Well in many cases for the mares this stuff tends to arouse them sometimes, the fusions taking their toll on their bodies in that manner is certainly gonna make a mare a little excited physically despite what’s happening to them

Some ponies react differently to the fusions affect. Some can carr some resemblance of last moment memories from the component mares before. And some just immediately start with their own independent thoughts before some memories of their component mares comr back. That is why later on they start to question the familiarity of each other.
