Notes about the design/character:
 
-Radiant Jewel started out as “Majesty”, based on the G1 pony of the same name.
 
-Majesty’s personality was the stereotypical “stuck-up fashionista” type, basically Rarity 2.0. Even after Majesty was scrapped, it took a long time for me to truly set Jewel apart from Rarity as the confident mare we know today who can embrace her femininity AND masculinity.
 
-Since Majesty was a stuck-up fashionista, this included her being after stallions with wealth and status—like Dusk Star, the alicorn prince. She got with him for his status but stayed after truly falling in love with him. I even made a kid for them, which I later sold as an adopt. As Dusk and Majesty/Jewel evolved into more developed characters, they became much less compatible. Once I found more suitable partners for them, I finally stopped shipping them.
 
-After Stage 2 of Radiant Jewel (middle) came to be, it took me a long time and a few trials to get her design where I wanted it. Now she looks a bit less like a generic RariPants kid and actually has vivid, attractive colors.
