Personality: Smoky is mostly down to earth, or “chill” as he’d describe myself, but don’t let his quiet demeanor fool you. He has an over-inflated sense of right and wrong and is known to be somewhat of a drama queen, exaggerating situations and feeling a world of hurt over the few things that really crawl under his skin. Smoky comes from a well-meaning place though, and only wants everyone to get on with their lives and for the world to run smoothly. His desire for peace and tranquility can make him a little stubborn too, and greedy, because sometimes he puts his needs before others’.  
This is only under extreme situations and he’s usually a quiet fellow who doesn’t say much with the wrong ponies, but can conversate for hours with the right ones. Small talk just isn’t his thing, but will politely carry on chatting with someone for the sake of avoiding a blunt, “Shut up.”  
Get Smoky on a skateboard, though, and he’ll carry on his silent attitude with an air of pompous superiority. He won’t outright say it, but his smug look and shining eyes do: “Smoked ya.”
 
Likes: Black coffee, dry weather, magazines, nature, bruises, wool sweaters, Nightmare Night  
Dislikes: Sour candy, staying indoors for too long, fashion (at least what’s current in Canterlot), rain, rusty metal  
Hobbies: Smoky has spent nearly all his life outdoors. When not on a skateboard he’s taking hikes, and if his friends are available, they organize camping trips. He’s not much of a hardcore survivalist, though, as the call of the pavement always beckons him.
 
History: Born and raised in San Franciscolt, he’s a city pony with a thirst for some peace and quiet, and to get away from what he believes is a falling out in skate culture. He started off skating down his hilly street, ever since his legs could carry him, and there was no doubt what his special talent would be. This sense of assurance, confidence, comfort in the known–it made him a bit staunch, and the rapidly-developing city around him transfrormed into something he couldn’t recognize. Foreign ponies from all around Equestria were turning his home into a nouveau Canterlot of sorts, and skate culture evolved with this shift too. And Smoky hated it, claiming that the thrill comes from personalizing boards and feeling the ground beneath you.  
“It’s all fancy branding now,” he’d say, back home and now here in Dappleton. “Skating is an art through many forms, but they turned into a business. Not a business in selling boards, but in selling an image that isn’t even real, dude.”  
Settling in Dappleton calmed his frustration. The slower pace is relaxing for his tight-knit personality and he doesn’t see an overwhelming sense of commercialization in small-town life. Back home he took gently used boards, created new designs on them, and sold them. He hopes his now more legitimate business encourages others to try out skating, whether that’s implanting a love for it or awakening a hidden talent in young ponies.  
Smoky does miss those hills, though.
