Superman and Trixie, an unlikely pair I would be curious to see them interact.

Though wouldn’t Batman be more fitting? Just saying

The way you’re putting it, it makes me wonder if you ever ONCE read a Superman comic in your life. In the comics, many of Superman’s battles took place in cities or towns, collateral damage was gonna happen regardless. There was a truck-load of destruction in Death of Superman equal to if not more than Man of Steel. In the film, the only damage Superman did intentionally in battle was scraping Zod’s face against the side of a building, most of the time, he was getting thrown into buildings. It was also his first day on the job so to speak and he was going up against an army of Kryptonians who were genetically birthed and programmed for war. As for Superman showing disregard for human life? WHAT?

  1. Superman has X-Ray vision and, while we only see him do it once through his perspective, it can be implied he was using it multiple times in the film such as the interrogation scene where, while it wasn’t shown visually, it was implied via his dialogue.

  2. Before the battle in Smallville, Superman told the people to seek shelter. Yeah, sure sounds like disregard to me.

  3. In the heat of battle, you are not going to be aware of what’s going on around you. Same thing happened to Superman.

So by trying to stop the Kryptonians from killing humans, Superman shows a blatant disregard for human life. /Logic /endsarcasm

It seems that you don’t want to listen to what I’m trying to say, so I’ll just leave you to your narrow views on how things should be; I can keep squeezing this stone, but obviously I’ll never get any water from it.

The problem is that there’s a certain lack of regard for human life, both in small things like hurling your opponent into a gas station where numerous people are parked and standing by (causing it to explosion), to bigger things like not acknowledging the damage you’re fight is causing and danger your partially responsible for putting people (the movie doesn’t even see this as an issue). Even when the avengers fought an army they made an effort to keep the damage to a minimum. If that comic you keep referencing had this issue than I apply those criticisms there as well bit at least as a comic set well into supermans established canon it has an excuse to have this level of excess. With a film, especially an origin story thee needs to be more restraint and humanity

through several miles of solid ground” implies Superman grabbed Zod and punched a hole in the surface and drilled through the ground during their fight.

How exactly was Superman supposed to gain the upperhand with two semi-powered trained Kryptonian soldiers, and then one with his level of strength, but with a killer edge and on a suicide run. In what was basically his first supervillain fight?

And again, I ask, exactly how is this so much more controversial then when the Doomsday fight was essentially the same thing? This seems like an incredibly nitpicky issue.

Never said underground, dude. I said if the guy could sod across solid ground straight into town, not to mention punch the guy through several buildings even when sod was at his most vicipus and bloodthirsty, then it really seemed kind of silly he couldn’t take the fight elsewhere. Not even saying the movie sucks. I’m just saying the movie could have at least made a point to have superman attempt to gain control over the situation
biznizz

@Background Pony

Not when he’s looking to either get killed or kill every human & Superman in sight.

And “several miles” underground? Zod got knocked into Smallville, pushed down and dragged ONTOP of the ground due to the momentum, he and Superman flew around Metropolis and into orbit but they never fought underground. What movie were you watching?

@biznizz

So Superman and drag Zod through several miles of solid ground, whilst punching him repeatedly (in the same movie), but can’t force the fight away from people…ok, then.

@Background Pony

I refer you to BP’s previously mentioned Superman vs Doomsday fight (since I just read it).

Doomsday, like Zod and the Kryptonians, was an opponent that Supes could barely handle; where they wanted to fight, they fought.

When the brawl made it to Metropolis, billions in damages were done and people got caught up in the collateral damage.

So no, this wasn’t something Snyder or the writers pulled out of their ass, this scenario has happened in the comics.

Your. Complaint. Is. Flawed.

What the villains do has nothing to do with the point I just made.

It’s how the heroes take control of the situation. And even in Dragonball z, the heroes know better than to punt villains across several buildings in populated areas which haven’t been evacuated (and crash space crafts into said areas on purpose) .

Likewise theirs, there’s several points in which Superman could’ve taken the fight to an isolated location, given it’s not beyond him to pick Zod up and drag the motherfucker several miles, whilst beating his face in. He could’ve easily taken taken it to a barren mountainside or into orbit. But instead, risks metropolis’ AND smallville’s populace, because the director thought it looked too cool, to see a city Superman is supposed to be saving get annihilated.

@Background Pony

You bring up DBZ, a series where the villains aren’t above killing thousands and destroying cities and planets to get what they want.

Sounds familiar, your comparison doesn’t do you any favors for your flimsy argument.

@Background Pony

Except there’s a pretty big distinction to be made between simply not being able to save everyone, and not even showing any concern for the massive property damage you’re causing nor the lives you’re putting in danger, simply to take down the bad guy.

Even in the dumbest episodes of Dragonballz made a point to take the hero’s fight to some place where there’s no civilians to endanger…away from the city. Not even considering that is unbelievably out of character for superman.

@rammbane

Implying that in the comics, Metropolis doesn’t get heavily damaged.

See: Doomsday, Infinite Crisis, Our Worlds At War, etc.

And yeah, if Superman was to break his “no killing” code (which, BTW, has been confirmed that doing so actually causes him to make that code in this universe), I’d be glad he did it to actually save some one.

This isn’t a movie with Super-God, this is the first outing of Super”man”; so sorry he wasn’t the perfect hero that hasn’t been around since the end of the Silver Age. If you want a limpwristed movie like that, I’ll gladly point you over to the uselessness that was Superman Returns. I’m glad that I got some ACTION in a movie based on the star of Action Comics.

Get over yourself.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Background Pony
First half of the movie was okay, although already seen a million times in comics, animated series, movies, smallville, etc. And the second halv Michel Bay Boom Crash Explosions everywhere whole city gets destroyed, Morpheus watch out for the falling buildings, estimated death 6.000.000. Oh no not the random family now i have to snap your neck. Some of many things wrong with this movie. Also, spoiler alert

Trixie wishes she could be a shining example like him, but alas, she’s an anti-hero at best.
