Let me put it this way. We’ve had so many heads of state who make Sombra and Discord look like Fluttershy that it’s sometimes hard to believe that a wise, kind leader is even possible.
 
If you don’t believe me, look at some of our history books.

Personally, I don’t really see her that way. But let’s face it Twi, major political figures are gonna be subject to all kinds of jokes or negative opinions, it comes with the job.

Well molestia started off as a “Twilights spell mishap” that ended up summoning a succubus that started doppleganging Celestia and went on a rape spree.

here are the reasons;
 
Troll:  
She makes the cakes over fill her tea cup
 
She seems to find it amusing that fluttershy thought her phoenix had died.
 
Tyrant:  
sends her sister to the moon.
 
also people (North Americans) now aren’t entirely too keen on monarchy, even if the leader is good
 
Sex fiend/Molestia:  
I think its just that in the same way luna went insane and wanted night forever Celetia’s alternate/insane personality is a sex fiend, then there’s the idea that Molestia is a different character.
 
so the first two are canon things with a bit of a fanon interpretation needed, but not too far off (in my opinion). The last thing is entirely fanon
 
That’s just what I think

Imagining alternate universes is fun. That’s all it is for me. I entertain no delusions of any of it being remotely canon.

Because they ethier:
 
A) know it makes people complain,
 
B) get a kick out of doing it,
 
C) actually believe that those are her true personalities,
 
or D) just do it because everyone else is doing it.
 
That’s what it seems like to me anyway.

Sometimes people hate authority, but mostly it’s just lulz.

Actually, Twilight, those last two are either sympathetic or generally well liked.

I think it’s just memes and the Solar Empire/Lunar Republic war that saw the other sister as intentionally evil or just lame. Both sisters own but Celestia needs more positive memes. Her sister is now seen as a gamer for some reason.

I never had a problem with her. And unlike her lazy, mopey sister, Celestia actually does things.
 
People give her overexaggerated flaws to balance her character, but I think she’s well-established already. The problem is that the show treats her as nothing more than a plot device, so her character neither gets the chance to shine nor is even relevant.

It’s not that we have an issue with authority figures, it’s just that we love irony and really dark humor.

You can make fun of any character, hell there’s at least a couple dozen Star Wars characters that are common practice to take shots at.

@RIG As far as I know it’s mostly because he dies a lot. Not because he’s secretly hates humanity and his fellow Autobots, there might be jokes out there about that, but that isn’t the majority…at least as far as I know.

I’m still waiting for “asshole/monster” alternate character versions of Gandalf.

She doesn’t have a canon flaw _yet so I’ll give her a fanon flaw so she won’t be boring unlike her sister.

We don’t mean it. We just portray her as a troll and a sexual predator because they’re the polar opposites of her.

We don’t have problems with authority figures. It’s just fun to screw with people. Famous people are just really big targets.
 
Some of them even do it to themselves.

I’m sure things have been said about Optimus and Gandalf more surprised if nothing has been said  
and Mufasa is dead we have to show some respect

We’re just envious because our “authority figures” don’t have a fraction of Celestia’s dignity, wisdom and integrity.
