The Steel Legion set up their heavy weapons and lay down suppressing fire with their heavy bolters

The Necrons meet their fury with their Gauss weapons. Flayed ones slowly March towards their lines, but the Commissar keeps any guardsmen from retreating. The necron lord closes the distance with the blood angels captain.

Explosives tear into the flayed ones and destroy the twisted parodies of life, but the warriors hold their ground and fire. The heavy bolters start to thin the enemy, but the guard is taking heavy casualties. The Necron lord is about to enter melee distance, seemingly interested in parodying the livings view of honor.

the captain had drawn back his hammer as they began, not deigning the announcement of the necron lord with any visible reaction, outwardly seeming calm and awaiting the first strike of the lord everyy muscle was wound like a spring, ready to snap into action, and as the machine entered reach he did just that, bringing the hammer down with strenght and speed that only the legendary angelos could possibly have beaten.

The Necrons became scrap metal as the Lord and the captain dueled in a fight that would be retold many times. The Necron lord was fast, but could not predict all of the captains moves. Eventually, the lord was flattened beneath the hammer, exploding into pieces.

the land raider, as the broadest vehicle turns and guns it, promethium flamethrowers blazing trails into anything meltable in its’ way, behind it the other marine complements and tanks rolled, ready to fan out and provide cover fire as necessary, then would come the mortal imperial units, life was the empress’ currency and any general that wasted them usually found themselves facing down the jaws of the enemy alone in short order.

The imperial forces make it to the exit just in time as the bomb goes off. They took a few casualties on the way out, but it was worth the price, as the tomb was now completely destroyed.
