Well, I think it’s obvious he just didn’t put any effort into the episode at all.

I think it was only made so Hoity Toity and Photo Finish would have more recent speaking roles than Babs, and for Pommel’s obligatory “appearance” for the season.

Eh, Honest Apple was bad, but I don’t despise it or anything. I mainly just find the middle hard to watch.
 
I liked Strawberry Sunrise. I liked AJ at the end. I liked Rarity’s motive for the fashion contest. (like, it actually made sense for her character rather than just being yet another meaningless event), and Inky Rose was cute.

Faust is a great ideas person, but not a great storyteller. The three episodes she worked on directly tend to also be the ones people say “don’t judge the show based on them”.
 
Boast Busters, iirc, was written to be a 40+ minute episode that they had to cut down to the basics.

Why though? He and Faust already had a well-established friendship since he worked with her on both the original Power Puff Girls and FHFIF, and judging by The Loud House’s popularity he’s quite capable of writing for shows with a large female cast.

I dunno. The episode sure isn’t a good one, so I couldn’t tell you, that’s just how it feels.

True, I remember first trying to get into the show via the pilot and was rather underwhelmed.
 
Really now? If that were the case they could have made it into a mid-season two parter while saving an episode script for in case the show got renewed for a second season.

Speaking of contract writers, do you know if Merriwether Williams was hired as one? She was the only newbie writer to join the staff in season two, and she and Faust never worked on anything together prior to FIM.

Not looking forward to the AJs parents episode. To sad if dead.

So I guess I’m the only one who’s bothered by the fact that seemingly our only appearance of allusion to Coco Pommel this season is so my least favorite of the main characters can mock her, and we get yet another appearance of Maud “Amazingly Overrated” Pie instead. Maybe I’m just spoiled after three straight seasons where she does make an appearance, but if I’m being perfectly honest, she was the only reason I was still interested in the show, so.
 
plus, well, fanart of her is already in a deep enough drought as it is

For me as cute as she can be she’s always connected to my least favorite of the main six so it doesn’t bother me AJ mock her(rather stupid) disco ball outfit.

I mean, it figures, after all. I’m always the one with problems no one else can relate to.
 
(At least I managed to get a plush before the show’s writers decided they hated her and don’t want people who do like her to be happy, I guess.)

Even then, you have to admit AJ was saying that more to mock the odd, impractical designs of Coco’s they showed, not really her.  
And in her mind(at the time) impractical was bad.

Irrelevant. They cockteased her fans with a single namedrop, then didn’t follow through. They used a character they know is really popular in the fandom and used her as a jumping off point for a gag that amounts to “hahaha wow look at this stupid design.” And the hell of it is that this is likely the only acknowledgement of her existence we’ll get for this entire season.

I get you don;t like one of you favorite ponies being part of the butt of a joke, but you are disregarding that AJ was talking about the design just to be upset that it was Coco being mocked?

To be fair, Honest Apple is no good, and the season’s not over yet, Coco could still get a physical appearance.

I didn’t know Boast Busters was supposed to be 40 minutes, probably would have saved the episode.

So, season 8 has just been officially confirmed for a 2018 release, with 26 episodes.

I think it is safe to say that Hasbro will have a hard time trying to find a show that will go on for as long as FIM.
 
Also, I wonder, if something important will happen in the movie, will that mean season 8 will hopefully have those changes?
