So. How do get that Duck badge? (). This badges is given to limited time or unlimited? There is another badges?

I’m rather curious about this myself. This could be a really fun feature if the mods run with it in the right direction.
 
I wonder if my edits will net me an Artist badge, or something to that effect.

The duck isn’t the only badge I noticed:

I think we should wait for the admins to make an official explanation.

Where are you guys finding these badges? This is seriously the first time I’ve heard of them.

Naw, the owner made the first post on November 2012, while I did mine on July 2012 (the same day Ponibooru went in read-only mode).

Awarded to users that had an account made before PB went read only (mid June 2012) and were still active as of the first day of this June.
 
 
We’re still figuring out what things to use this on, new toy and all that.

By the way, badges mark the first time Derpibooru uses images - except for the images served as an image board, that is.  
And ads, since they’re embedded in the site.

Oh man, I hope I get the “giant-ass hypocrite who hides in anon” badge.  
It would be just like christmas!
 
I’m actually serious too. But since I always post as anon, it’d be pointless anyway.

So what other kinds of badges/awards do you have in the works? Can we make suggestions?

We have a few ideas, and are of course open to suggestions.

Maybe a badge for tag editing?

Geez, give that one to Defender of 5. That guy has added the ‘solo’ tag to so many of my uploads that I genuinely feel bad.

You’re going to do both good and bad ones, right?
 
Allow me to formally suggest these:  
-I’d like to see one for artists. Even if editing screencaps doesn’t count me in for it, I still think users like Zincy and Braeburned should definitely get extra props for being, well, artists.  
-We should definitely have one for people who have reported a lot of banned or illegal content, like one of the Royal Guards or something.  
-I’d also like to see one with Luna’s face called “Never Sleeps”, for users who just seem to be online all the time.  
-How about one called “Refugee”, for users who fled here from good old Ponibooru.  
-Finally, one of a Sockpuppet for known samefags.

I thought of giving explanations for all of these, but then I think it’s more fun if you guys figure that out (even if it won’t match my idea).

Hell, if there’s one badge we should have it’s one for the artists.

Well, it’ll be difficult to have honest badges in terms of “Lotsa Upvotes” and “Lotsa Faves” style badges. As nice as earning a “5000+ Faves” badge would be, it’d eventually cause people do just spam the fave and upvote buttons willy-nilly.
 
And only Roboshi’s allowed to do that.
 
Although I guess we could make a Roboshi Badge just for Roboshi. Badge requirements: “Be Roboshi”.

Yeah, we’re not going to be doing badges for stuff that can be achieved by spamming a button. We learned that lesson when we made reputation public.
