[According to the British media](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_wrong_type_of_snow), no, but it turns out they were making fun of a legitimate problem (a type of snow*fall* that British Rail had the wrong equipment to deal with - for instance, it was so powdery that snowplows didn't *work.*).
