Because it promotes normalcy. Good family values. Growing up and taking responsibility. Passing on the torch from one generation to the next. Basically, it isn’t NPC woke garbage that think a woman having a romantic interest or wanting to be a mother is sexist.

You got it backwards, Jim said he didn’t know after the writer of the episode and character gave a coy ‘Maaayyyybeeee’. He assumed ‘no’ on faulty logic and admitted that. So there’s a coy maybe, no evidence against it, and the character herself is evidence for it.
There’s a concept called “reading between the lines.” An example of this would be seeing AJ wearing Granny Smith’s scarf. You never see the corpse on screen nor do they ever say she’s dead but deep down in your heart, you know Granny Smith is gone.
Luster Dawn is exactly the same thing. In fact, what she could be is so strong that the people denying it sperg out because they don’t like what they’re reading between the lines and make all sorts of outlandish theories just to invalidate that feeling they have deep down inside.
@UserAccount
She is not related to starlight or sunburst. Jim said no and Josh doesn’t know. There is no evidence or confirmation, she’s not familiar with them!!!!.
@Amm
This. When you take traits after your parents, you inherit their “traits”, not their life experiences. Starlight and Sunburst didn’t start out the way they are now.
@Derpyfan
Nothing implies she hasn’t been there. Twilight simply suggested the best place for Luster to start learning friendship but nothing implies nor suggests she’s never been there.
@Derpyfan
Sunburst was sent away to Canterlot at a young age to enrol in Celestia’s school. They did the same thing with Luster. Its like your asking why Starlight and Sunburst knew very little about Sire’s Hollow in Parent Map when they said repeatedly they were born there. Its unicorn culture.
@UserAccount
Even if that’s true, that doesn’t mean she wasn’t born in Ponyville. She may still have the same living arrangements as Twilight had when she lived in Canterlot, meaning she didn’t spend that much time over there. And even if she had, she would have lived with Starlight…in the Castle of Friendship… a nice place for an antisocial loner to hide.
@Derpyfan
Or that Luster Dawn doesn’t know that is the best place to make friends… Or that maybe she never cared about mom’s and dad’s job… I could keep going. That’s the beauty of the episode and art in general, the possible interpretations are endless.
@Edhelistar
Like she knew them? No, it was like she was making friends for the very first time. She obviously lives in Canterlot with Twilight. Ponyville is a friendly place, not like Canterlot or Manehatten or whatever. Waving to a stranger is a great way of making friends there.
Also, her parents would be literally running the school, she shouldn’t be unfamiliar with it.
@Amm
Haber only said “maybe”, but Jim said a definitive “no” before easing back when he realized that Haber had given a maybe to it.
@Derpyfan
Or maybe she was refering to the School of Friendship itself? Who knows! It was left deliberately vague on purpose by Josh Haber and the rest of the story staff. So…
