I agree in principal with the idea that trans people should be able to just relax, but this really does come off as a highly privileged point of view. It's much easier to relax and 'take it easy' when the minority group you're a part of is already treated with, at the very least, indifference, and most importantly, **equality**.


 
It isn't as though minorities in America make a fuss because they just love complaining about things and have nothing better to do with their time. It's because many of them still don't have basic rights which recognize their situation. And in our magnificent two party system, there's a high probability your next leader will be in a party which actively seeks to unravel social progress made by previous administrations.


 
America may be #1a world leader in somce regtain rdespects, but social progress is not one. We're still playing catch up to most other Western powers on many, many issues.


 
Seriously. This argument of 'well everything looks good on my side of the fence, so everything must be OK everywhere' mentality is so hilariously disingenuous and intellectually lethargic, it's actually rather breathtaking.
