I think Gravity falls handled Dipper's crush on Wendy a lot better than MLP's Spike's crush on Rarity did, I mean for one thing it didn't drag on for nine years/seasons, also I thought Wendy was very mature with handling Dippers crush on her, instead of what the hell MLP did with Spike's crush on Rarity which was pretty much just make him do manual labour for two years just to get her attention for two years.
