The part in FG was a competition. Everyone who was in the team (which consisted of the most popular students) had to participate in it, whether they had interest in it or not.


 
I think it is more likely that either the characters developed an interest because of the games or the animators did not want to make new models, so they simply reused to ones from FG.
 
Either way, that member compilation looks still odd. E..especially when you compare it to the other science club.
