I never suggested that I or the fandom owned anything. But what does ownership have to do with anything? What does it even mean to own an idea? I did suggest that it is ungrounded to say that writers are the sole authority when they are in effect discovering an idea that they are relating in words. You are right; cannon has nothing to do with whether people like it, but I don't see its relation to "ownership" either, whatever that means.
