Well, having gone to the tumblr post, I actually have read the (yet to be completed) fic it's based off of. This PARTICULAR part isn't yet reached, though the idea of prosthetics has been commented on.
Long story short, ||at some point between the season six finale and the beginning of the fic, Chrysalis lost a leg in a fight with a basilisk. Along with this she ends up almost dying of a mixture of poison and starvation by the time Celestia finds her at the beginning of the fic. ||
