Stuff like this is why Pinkie Pie was always a strange source of inspiration for me. I spent so much time in high school and college obsessed with getting good grades, obtaining a job, and generally focusing solely on my own self-interest, that I forgot what it was like to go out of my way to help others, make people smile, and be a lot less neurotic and materialistic in general. While I can't say I was depressed (at least, not all the time), I was much more likely to wake up with a smile when I had that positive mindset.
