To be honest, Dragon and Dark type pokemon are not that good. Most Dragons have a double weakness to ice (salamence, dragonite, flygon, garchomp, altaria...) and one of the few who doesn't has a double weakness to fairy (hydreigon). A good Froslass with ice beam and a Gengar with Dazzling Gleam could do the trick with them.

On the other hand, Dark types have a weakness to fighting and fairy. I already mentioned the Dazzling Gleam Gengar, but I found out that many ghost types can learn good fighting type moves. Just teach Brick Break to a Dusknoir, Dynamic Punch to a No Guard Golurk or Drain Punch/Hammer Arm to a Golurk with Iron Fist (the last one being my personal favorite)

Sooo... yeah, ghost type pokemon have many reasons to be liked by people
No reason given
