Nier: Automata hasn’t come out yet, but the few soundtracks we got from the demo are already quite amazing.

The game itself looks really good too, judging from the demo (and since there’s actually a playable demo and not just overhyped trailers, the final product is likely to be just as good if not better).

The original Nier is one of those interesting games where the OST is the most memorable portions of the experience; not that it dismisses any other aspects in the game, either. The distinct leitmotif is instantly recognizable and everything about the soundtrack captures the melancholy and dreary hope in a lingering dead world so well that I am still awestruck by it.
 
I wouldn’t be surprised if the soundtrack is reason enough why Nier is now getting a sequel.

I actually much prefer the few tracks I’ve heard in Nier: Automata than those of the original. I think it’s partly because the new one’s vocal portion is a bit more subtle, blending itself more nicely to the instruments.
