Even if they have the right to say things like that, we don’t owe them a platform to spread their ideas, or a civil “good faith” debate. There is no “good faith” with people who advocate for killing or deporting people on the basis of race, and it’s asinine to be expected to be polite with people who are openly clamoring for the forcible removal of entire races of people.
You condemn them and don’t dignify their inane positions. I can happily debate conservatives on a number of issues, but how do you convince a dyed-in-the-wool racist that racism is bad? It’s so ingrained in them that I can see no practical way to get them to rethink their views.
I do think unabashed racists really can change, and indeed some have. But I feel that realistically most of them are a lost cause.
