Cute girls but not dumb or sickening sweet? Then I suggest watching Card Captor Sakura (Subs, not the butchered dub) since CLAMP productions never dissapoint. (This series is absurdly good and full of details, like how they always recycle the scene where Sakura uses her magic staff to summon a card’s power, EXCEPT she’s always wearing a completely different outfit every time the scene is used.)  

 
Ecchi? Try watching Kenkō Zenrakei Suieibu Umishō, where a poor guy who cannot swim at all is the manager of his school swimming team and must deal with his classmates’ quirkyness, some unwanted crushes, a very beautiful but shy classmate (who’s a huge pervert on denial) and his assholish friends, plus an old female childhood friend who moves in with him and has the weird habit of swimming naked, but everyone put up with her because she swims faster than a bullet without any effort.  

 
Shokugeki no Soma (Food wars) is also an awesome cooking series with the just dose of comedy, ecchi, tension and food recipes. (That and the blatant orgasmic reactions everyone get from eating delicious food.)  

 
And if everything else fails, well there’s always One Punch Man or the Marvel Animeverse.

Honestly, I find it rather hard to get into CCS. I’m watching it for MAL’s challenge, but so far haven’t got past 11 episodes (in fact, I watched the 11th one just yesterday). The main issue is that it feels very slow. It’s actually oddly boring as a result and it’s hard to keep any interest. And from what I’ve seen, I highly doubt that I’m going to like Mei-Ling.
 
So far, if someone were to ask me, if CCS is worth watching, I’d recommend them to read the manga instead. That one doesn’t have those problems.

I’m watching Flip Flappers, and as of the third episode, it went places I didn’t expect it to go.

Are you watching the dub or the subs? The dub meddled with a lot of stuff on a very hamfisted attempt to make the series more charming for american viewers but only managed to turn it into a clusterfuck. (We latinamericans were lucky to get a 100% faithful dub though.)
 
The series has a slow start ideed, and the first episodes are basically just Sakura trying to figure out WTF is she supposed to do mixed with her and company having fun with the cards. But at the same time, a lot of the seemingly pointless stuff and goofy characters ends up being very important later.
 
Mei-Ling is an annoying character on purpose, she’s there to throw a wrench on everything and make Sakura and Li’s already complicated relationship even more complicated, but don’t worry, because she will leave after some episodes. And yes, the manga is much better and the recent continuation with the new cards is great as well.
 
On the anime defense, I could have never guessed that Mei-Ling was a filler character. Either way, since I was already suggesting old anime, how about watching Saber Marionette J? (Subbed, not dubbed because Megumi Hayashibara’s voice is great.)

Aiura’s less like a “slice-of-life” and more like a “crumb-of-life,” each episode is 4 minutes long so the entire anime can be finished in under an hour and barely anything happens in each episode as it is
 
it’s pretty harmless though, but you’ll be wondering what the point of a few episodes are; there’s a few good moments to be had as well so it’s not a completely nondescript anime imo
 
7/10 there are crabs everywhere in the OP and I was starting to doubt that they’d make their way into the actual show but they do eventually deliver on that end, don’t you worry about that part

So it’s basically the Whose Line Is It Anyway? of anime, where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter?

 
Penguin Musume Heart is one of the most nonsensical animes (but not even the most nonsensical) I’ve ever seen. Also, one of the most ecchi-bait-y. The first episode actually shows nipples, which no other episode has (at least of the 9 I’ve seen) and general has a higher amount of fanservice than the rest of the series.

Bikini Warriors is a short and hylarious parody of RPGs full of meta jokes and lampshade holding about your average RPG cliches like heroes taking items from the NPC’s houses or how every player always carries powerful elixirs that never uses.  
Also, the titular bikinis actually protect the heroines better than regular armor, even if they don’t understand how it’s possible.
 

talked about Aiura with a friend, he pointed me to Plastic Neesan because it’s also quite a short series, so I blew through that in half an hour just now

In some fighting genre anime, the add English names to their attack moves and such. Half the time I’m thinking “Okay, you guys probably don’t even know what that means.”

I just finished watching Kemono Friends. It was very good. I won’t give a review yet, but I will say that I would probably give the show an 8 out of 10.

I wondered if there is a magical girl anime, where the main character is not a teenager but an adult woman. Turns out, there is. Should check it out some time.
