(Sorry for the absence yesterday! Sundays…)
Twilight waits at the gates for Jaspis, Luna lecturing her exasperatedly about the dangers of leaving without an entire section of the guard. She turns to the moon princess, patience gone.
“Will you just shut up?” She never used language like this before it happened, but ever since… “I’m just as much a princess as you now, and if I want to take just one guard, I can!”
“You might be a princess, but I’m millennia older than you and I know more than you can imagine! Pulling stuff like this is how you get killed!” She snaps back.
“You’re not my keeper, Luna!” This is the first time she’s addressed her like that, not ‘Princess,’ or even just ‘Luna,’ she spat the name with her voice full of venom.
The moon princess covers her hurt quickly. “Fine. If you want to die, then so be it.” She doesn’t mean a word of it, she thinks as she flies off to land on the balcony of her chambers. She was just trying to help. She just wanted Twilight safe. She didn’t want- no, couldn’t handle losing the one other pony she truly cared about. Why was she so stubborn?
The lavender alicorn regrets what she’s said as soon as Luna flies off, and takes a few steps, almost flying after her. But she stops. She doesn’t have the time. She can give her apology later, but right now her little ponies’ safety was top priority.
She goes back to the place she first stood to wait.
