Because Spike’s dad needs to be a hero and a badass… for some reason.

I would’ve been fine with Spike’s real dad being an ass or a hero. It would’ve meant more if Spike had to choose between his biological parents and Twilight instead of “Well this guy sucks, might as well go back to Twilight.”

I honestly wonder if Sludge was telling the truth about being Spike’s dad, but the threat of being friendship laser’d made him lie about that to save his own skin. It’d be consistent with the way the character was presented.

What I want to see from the Sisters is more about how Nightmare Moon happened. It’s been alluded to a lot, but the circumstances surrounding Luna’s fall from grace are still unknown. I, for one, would like to know how she got to the point where she felt so unloved and neglected that she’d go so far as to hurt her sister.

Shameless bump is shameless. This is one of the larger unresolved questions from the lore, and it matters quite a lot to the setting and characters. I can’t be the only one hoping this is addressed, right?

I’d prefer not to learn about the sisters and NMM or Spike’s origin. As some others said it, the way it is leaves some mystery to them, if everything was spelled out bluntly for us there is a high chance it could be disappointing…

In terms of lose ends I am torn on the shippings:

Rarity x Spike: I don’t know if I want them to make a clear statement as in “They will date down the line” vs “It will never happen” or if I want them to leave it ambiguous, but it has been with us since the very first episode and is a huge part of Spike’s emotional involvement so I feel it should somehow be addressed before it’s over.
Fluttercord: There’s no denying there is TONS of shipping fuel with these two. And again I don’t know if I’d like an explicit statement or not, but it would be interesting to see it addressed.
Definitely would like to see Marble being over Big Mac. Doesn’t matter if she found someone or is just a content single for the moment, but that heartbreak scene from Best Gift Ever makes me seriously want to see her happy.
And while we are at it, poor not-at-all-jealous Limestone :D
And then I’m a huge Rarijack fag, but I feel it’s way more prominent in EG than ponies, so that’s not really high on my list.

Mudbriar: “TECH-NECK-LEE, [a bunch of autistic prattling].”

Good God, there is socially awkward and then there is continuing to be obnoxious when you can see you’re making people uncomfortable. The one good thing I can say about Mudbriar in this episode is that he is beginning to get a sense of self-awareness.

Starlight and Trixie is so overdone as a pairing I put off watching the episode because I’m tired of seeing it. Student Counsel is probably the last episode we’ll get with Trixie so it’s doubly frustrating that the show played it safe instead of pairing Trixie with any other character in the huge cast.

Speaking of overdone, Pinkie has two other sisters besides Maud.

At least Starlight made the right decision turning away Silverstream instead of trying to clone herself or some dumb magic solution like that.

..that’s it? The only real Sisters episode, and that’s what we got? Are you fucking kidding me? Is this some kind of joke? Both groups relearning a lesson, something especially grievous for Luna and Celestia, who should really know better than to be like that. And of course they weren’t even kind enough to give us Daybreaker/Nightmare Moon despite this episode having a perfect opportunity to at least reference that. All in all, this might be the first actually bad episode of the season.

And what was up with Luna’s voice? Am I the only one who noticed that?

I don’t say this often guys, but that was absolutely a 10/10 episode for me, best of the season, even better than Frenemies, and I loved that one. It’s amazing and wonderful to see how much the show staff have fleshed out Celestia and Luna over the past few seasons, with a few nods to the fandom along the way. I found myself tearing up for real at the end. So cute, just the cutest, in fact. And those bobbed tails and manes, and hawaiian shirts and swimsuits? Not to mention seeing Twily and Co. freak out over everything? This was a grand time, a grand and fun time.

In fact, if I didn’t know better I’d say this episode was co-written by 2Snacks.

I said “real” Sisters episode, because “A Royal Problem” was shared with Starlight. I didn’t think this episode was all that funny, really. I have no issues with the way the story was presented until the end, because we once again see that these two really just do not get along well.

To be fair, a lot of this is because Luna’s voice caught me off guard and was incredibly distracting. Seriously, is it just me, or was it different?
