I dunno, maybe a dozen or two, not many. But still enough.

A bigger issue though is case changes though, like in Zippy’s case. That would be a user creation transaction in the database, which would run the validators, which will fail because the name would exist in another casing. That would cause a number of issues. and I don’t particularly feel with putting in the (non-trivial) effort of running the validators on only some account creations but not others.

That’s a more understandable concern, I’m sorry I lashed out at you for it. It’s been so hard understanding why there’s been so much resistance when it takes me 2 or 3 tries to get an explanation, so I just kept trying.

Now that I know why, I can set my concerns aside while you work on improving the name-changing validation so we don’t have a repeat of what happened to ZippySqrl or wenni.

I don’t think this name change feature can ever be a satisfactory solution for people who want their names dropped.

Why do you keep arguing this point? No one disagrees, and no one is promoting this feature for that purpose.

How many people are changing their name on a daily basis?

If you mean just profile changes, I’ve helped 4 people this last week.

If you mean artist name changes, literally dozens in the last week where I didn’t have to also handle the profile name change itself by hand.
