In other news, Marvel Rivals peaked at 480k players. After a month it has dropped to…430k. An impressive retention.

I remember when it was being made it was being hailed as the new “MegaMan replacement,” or “Capcom Killer.” (Fans were still mad at Capcom for cancelling MegaMan Legends 3)

Obviously, Mighty No.9 didn’t live up to the hype, and even the creator apologized for it.

I dunno, I remember people used to hail “Freedom Planet” as a “Sonic killer,” but it didn’t replace it, and kinda became it’s own thing.

Honestly, I can’t think of any indie games that actually replaced or “killed” a popular series that wasn’t “already dead.” (Like in regards to Castlevania.)
