While authorities have declined tot disclosed a potential motive yet, a man named Basil Awartani has claimed via social media that one of the people shot was his cousin, Hisham, and that the attack was motivated after the shooter saw them wearing the Palestinian *keffiyeh* and speaking to each other in Arabic, at which point he began verbally harassing them before pulling the gun.
