IIRC, certain Islamic scholars consider physical music instruments (such as guitars) to be equivalent to hard drugs. So, there's a problem to be addressed in such doctrine.
 
Still, every Abrahamic religion abhors masturbation in one way or another, in its scriptures. Doesn't mean that it'll stop people from doing it -- sometimes we just end up curious about our own bodies, and go by the "if it doesn't hurt others, then i'm allowed to do it" mentality.
