I would blame Cadillac for lack of advertising and the dealerships for not stocking the CTS wagons. Like the Chevy SS, nobody is going to buy it if they don’t know it exists.
 
People go with what they know. The vast majority of Americans don’t know to drive manuals because they were never taught how and when growing up all they saw were autos. That’s how it was in my case. I’d learn how to drive a manual if I liked the car enough but I’d probably break it in the process.

Right, I only hear about the Silverado (with those dumb fake ads) and Camaro. Hardly anything is advertised for the SS. I think that’s because they know nobody would want one who isn’t already a Chevy guy or has some enthusiast knowledge of sport sedans

You gotta love the products people never heard of, it adds to the magic.
 
Once something goes mainstream it becomes the in thing and you look like you’re trying to be one of the cool kids.

One thing I like what Lexus has done is the elongated headlights, some of the cars came in burgundy which helped set it off. It’s that certain look I’ve been searching for.

I wouldn’t worry about breaking a manual. Unless you’re driving one that’s so worn out that it’s already about to self-destruct, they’re plenty tough enough to survive someone learning.

I wonder what trucks my Grandpap (he was a truck driver) drove. Random story time: My Uncle told me that while truck driving, Grandpa John was in the passenger seat and Pap’s brother (I don’t recall who but let’s suppose it was George) was driving then, driving 55 or 80 or whatever then George says something like “John, I’m tired. There’s a rest stop about an hour’s drive away and I want you to take the wheel” and then George proceeds to climb out of the truck and over the cab at speed (this was possible then because of how the truck was built with saddle tanks) as Pap drives the truck then George climbs back in the truck and sleeps in the passenger seat.
 
I know that might sound like a tall tale but I’ve heard other speedy stories about Grandpap from multiple sources, Pap didn’t just do double loads in one day from what I read; he did triples way back when that was possible. There were no seat belts and there were not many regulations, he started some time in the 1940s and finally stopped trucking in 2005 or 2006. Before Pap passed last year I asked him about seat belts and he said he didn’t use them “until recently” but at the same time I wonder how accurate that is since he asked me about a Dog they had about 20 years before I was born.

No joke, apparently George held on to something attached to the cab. I might be getting a handfull of details wrong though, maybe he just got out of the truck and went behind the cab.

Thankfully I didn’t get sideswiped at 4:20 PM today (oddly enough?) when someone was merging on the highway using up seemingly every inch of the onramp. I was on the road first, I had the right of way and I was looking in the mirror just in time to see BAM, some risk taker was not yielding. Maybe he/she would have gone on the shoulder but I hit the brakes and honked when I was going 55, I ended up slowing to 40 as they went up to maybe 75 only to the very next exit 3/4 of a mile away. I ended up catching up to them in equivalent on the highway maybe 10 seconds later. What were they doing, smoking marijuana?

from my time on the highway (I only have 2 months of experience) I usually have to slow down if someone is merging. the only time I see people go on the shoulder during a merge is if they’re a semi truck. this is especially true at 55 but it happens sometimes at 70, too. only difference is there’s usually more room to merge when you’re on a 70 highway.

that’s a great story. my mom tells stories about riding in a back of a pickup truck with her drunk uncle driving down 2 lane country roads (small town Minnesota is beautiful). grandma never had to wear seatbelt, either. grandma always said “it isn’t wrong until someone gets hurt!”

Yep, the Chevy SS is dead and you better get one and hide it in a garage until the price goes up.
