Why all this debate nonsense? If people here hate this shipping so much, why not just block the tag and move on? We’ve had many other ships in the feature box before. Heck, FlashLight got featured back when that was still a guaranteed flamewar topic. I happen to think this is a good image featuring my OTP, and Pia-sama is one of my favorite artists. Still, I can understand that a good number of people don’t agree seeing as I have been on the other side of the spectrum on this issue. There are over a million other images on this site, too many for everyone to get into a brouha about one image. Realize that ‘shippers gonna ship’ and move on.

There’s good reasons for our standards, though. Children don’t have enough experience, perspective, understanding or self control to really make sound decisions, and that’s no different in Equestria. Except:

I remember the comment. I think she said late teens, but that ponies live shorter lives so they grow to be independent and mature faster.
 
I think she even said that it was the deal of she wanted the characters to be old enough to be independent so they didn’t have to ask adults to do everything, but young enough to make young person mistakes to teach child lessons in the show, and have them act childish.
 
I dunno how much of that is canon, though. The show thrives of ambiguity. But they seem like young adults. They make childish mistakes but are old enough to own a boutique with locations in two major cities, run a farm, be a Wonderbolt, get paid to be a baker, and to live on their own away from parents.
 
As for Spike… who knows how dragons age. But experience-wise he seems pretty young.

And that’s purely your headcanon. Man, i don’t mind if Spike suddenly grown up and hook up with Rarity. But don’t try to force headcanons that they are underage when we have one of them blushing over Discord and Discord acting jealous over “teenager” going on a date, Discord is not a pedophile. Or we have Fluttershy and her parent throwing out a “teenage” Zephyr out of the house and having him find a job and finish his college, i don’t think ponies would force a child out of their household. There is simply no way any of them are above 18 at this point. And since Spike haven’t grown even a bit I also assume he’s still a baby dragon and at best just a teenage dragon, mentally.

No, Im pretty sure, the whole Sparity debate was ended like two or three years ago when theres this big drama about “Sparity sinking” after McCarthy literally said at one of the conventions that “Spike is a child and Rarity is an adult” which means of course that Equestria Girls don’t reflect their ages.

Remember the times Spike was ship teased with Rarity? Until the ship became an utter joke in later seasons where Rarity look up for new boyfriends while Spike got development with Ember.

Sometimes we pick our own images, and sometimes we take suggestions from the public thread. Thread’s not going to waste, and I’ve seen tons of good images in there.
 
Still, Pia deserves a feature. They’re a really good artist.

This entire argument is being made under the presupposition that Equestrian Ethics, at least in this particular case, are the same or similar enough to our own to make an reasonable moral claim. This argument is also under the presupposition that a dragon or ponies age in Equestria, compared to human age, is a good metric to determine sexual maturity.

another thing that supports the mane 6 being teenagers is the cutie mark magic.
 
ponies dont need to go to school,get career orientation,experiment or anything,they just get their CM at some point in the childhood and automatically know what they will do the rest of their life and the skills needed for it.
 
so they start living full adult lives straight away while still being biologically young,not like the equestria girls who still have to finish high school,college,internships,etc to even get anywhere in life.

Who says that they place the same number of candles on a cake as the pony’s age? The general impression I’ve gotten over the years is that the Mane 6 are in their early- to mid-20s, so I’d imagine it’s pretty close.
 
Also, as far as Official Party Ponies™ are concerned, birthday cake candles are probably Serious Business®, so I can’t really imagine them going too crazy with that particular aspect.
