It could have. I don’t think it would be as extreme as Silver-Quill’s idea though. Perhaps she accepts the reformations that have already happened, albeit grudgingly, but her methods are still a little too extreme for the other characters.
 
…Ooh, I just came up with a good way to do it. Majesty has grown bitter over many millenia of seeing so much evil, but when her extreme methods end up nearly getting innocents hurt, she realizes that she’s become nearly as bad as the threats she’s faced in the past and forgotten the kinder aspects of her overall true nature.
 
Bonus points if she sees foals nearby trembling in fear at her just to drive the point home.

It really should’ve. She could’ve been a good representation of all the fans who don’t believe in redemption and believe in only eliminating “the bad.” She’d be a good foil for Twilight.

I’m just saying, her punishments towards villains are usually karmic, but they’re not freaking torture like what Smart Heart was suggesting in his comments.
 
I wouldn’t mind a more well-intentioned extremist take on the character, just not the way Silver-Quill or others have suggested.

Yes, but there’s more to her than punishing villains (she also wouldn’t punish former villains who have proven to be reformed, unlike Silver-Quill’s skewed depiction of her). And she also only does that to those who actually DESERVE it. She’s not needlessly cruel either.

She was the leader of Ponyland in G1. She wouldn’t let any crime go unpunished, no matter how big or small. She turned a witch into a tree, turned a goblin who stole a baby into a statue, and turned a tribe of attacking ogres into a sea of foam.
