Because I’m more of a furry than a brony; I can see why people like the show, but it’s really not made for me.  
I’ve still seen every episode a good five or six times, but only with the help of blind reactors, because for some reason I really enjoy let’s plays, blind reactions, and so on; Before finding out about them, I gave up in the middle of the 3rd season (and that’s with just seeing each episode once)  
So, relax; I’m not ‘anti-brony’ or whatever, I’m on the site because I enjoy the content here.  
It’s just that in this case, I was comparing bronies to furries, so I fit more on the not-brony side in that context.

My only issues with the article is the absurd emphasis on “IT’S MEN DOING SOMETHING! MEN! MEN! MEEEEEENNN!” I know it’s all sensationalism but fucking Hell, you’d think the author would want to not come across as an absurd twat. Then again, I’ve never read a supermarket tabloid rag, so I assume that’s par the course.
 
I know we Bronies are predominantly male but how many women and children also attended the most recent BronyCon?

Something a lot of people are missing is this is The Globe (not the National Enquirer as EQD misreported.) They’re one of the mags you see in a grocery store checkout line with covers that say stuff like “Kate Upton Pregnant By Obama.” Journalistic integrity they ain’t for. They were the clickbait of their era long before clickbait articles were a thing. And that’s what makes the fact that the article isn’t even more negative surprising.
 
So remember this when you consider the image above.

that is a little journalistic trick: if the title does not go against what is written in the article, it can be anything at all, and people love title that call for attention

Maybe so, but even if they meant no offense it’s almost as though whoever wrote this went out of their way to come up with language with the most negative connotations possible.

2012 was a long time ago and I was nowhere near joining the fandom - but from today’s standpoint this seems pretty misinformed* and clickbaity.
 
|| And I know it sounds extreme - but imagine if an article came out with the same title about homosexuality, or if we go a little further back in time about and make it about Judaism ||
 
*By which I mean it’s nowhere near just a “fetish”.

Guys, I’ll point out, too, that this article is by no means difamatory - or at least, is not openly insulting- except for calling atendees “freaky”. Even has a psychiatrist poining out that Bronies (and I suppose Pegasisters too) are mainly sensitive straight people - but we have an important LGBT community, like any fanbase, and any civilized society, have mercy - and there’s nothing wrong in liking colorful equine TV shows.
 
But, yes, all this is sooooo 2012…

Sure but every fandom, frombronys to furrys to animes(weaboos) to gamers, they all have problems, but animes and games are more accepted nowadays, but in the past they had also problems, that anime fans have a twisted look of reality with the cosplays and shows or gamers are just stinking emos/losers/whatever who plays in mothers basement or daddy’s attic.

What is it, 2012? Who cares anymore?

We the bronies thank you for the complement! We are odd folk. But are we really the oddest in the world? What about the Muslims in Africa who kill several per day? What about the current presidential election? What about North Korea? Are those less important than bunch of weirdos that watch a girl’s show? I don’t think so. Please, choose better and more important things.

I’m seeing a lot of similarities though; A lot of it could be made into an article on furries by changing only the fandom-specific words (brony->furry, different con names, and so on)

They used the words “fetish,” “freaky,” and “twisted,” but didn’t describe anything more outlandish than any other sort of convention. I mean, by that logic, anyone attending Comic-Con must have some sort of messed-up fetish for superheroes, right?
 
On the other hand, it doesn’t really seem that negative overall, though with the way it’s written I can’t help but read it in that obnoxious voice from the TMZ commercials.

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s a glowing piece on the fandom. The author’s opinion is clearly visible. But of the “anti-Brony” articles I’ve seen, it’s one of the most positive ones.
 
Look at crap like Howard Stern’s take on the fandom for an example of what I mean.

Oh yeah, that’s just dripping with flattery. Don’t get me wrong, the testimonies are all clearly positive, but the journalist’s stance is very clear.
 
Though I do admit, the heavy slant of the diction is pretty amusing at times.
