As for Gilda’s reformation, it was a stretch, but as presented in the episode I can buy it (barely). Though I’m worried they’re going to present it now as a 180-degree turnaround with Gilda being a wonderful, encouraging friend all the time, much as Trixie’s reformation, which seemed to be just starting at the end of “Magic Duel”, turned out to be instant and complete (going by the comics, anyway). I prefer endings like “Filli Vanilli”, where it’s acknowledged that character growth takes time.

I mostly agree, but there are exceptions. I’m with you on Trixie and Gilda, mind you, but I’ll give them Sunset Shimmer, since people can be changed (for worse or for better) by intense or powerful (often traumatic) experiences, which I think demonic possession followed by finding yourself face-down in a smoking crater which you were used in the making of might just be enough to break someone. (Or maybe ’m just making excuses because I like the Rainbow Rocks version of Sunset better.)

re “Tanks for the Memories”: Remember this scene from “Just for Sidekicks”?

I agree that Rainbow Dash reacted more like Tank was dying than hibernating, which bothered me a bit, but since the episode was about coping with grief I could accept it.

Oh no, I don’t hate it. The season is pretty strong, but episodes like “the lost treasure of griffonstone” and “tanks for the memories” just kind of felt strange.

[Tanks for the memories spoilers] For example, that Rainbow suddenly cared so much about tank was off.. I mean we nearly saw no interaction between those characters in the whole series. Rainbow also kindof overreacted, as if tank was dying. I mean, it was sweet and all and brought a tear to my eye, but still..

The lost tresure of griffonstone: the sudden change in Gilda’s character was completely unrealistic (in my opinion) and completely trashed the pasing for me. I felt like I was in the middle of the episode, and suddendly it was almost over. Sure, they have to squeeze all of that in one episode, but it could’ve been done better for sure.

My reaction to this episode. Is it just me or was the writing pretty wierd? Not just for this episode, but for quite abit of season 5 till now?
