I’m not sure it’s as much Sonic as it is SonicDash. About 37% (≈924/2487) of images tagged “Sonic” have negative votes, but about 83% (≈109/132) of images tagged “SonicDash” have negative votes.
 
Still, the overall percentage of negative-vote images on the site is about 4.5% (≈610500/639313), so either Sonic images have some form of intrinsic shittiness, or users are biased against them (or both). Even more so for SonicDash.

Personally, I don’t give a crap about Sonic or its fandom one way or the other, but I do find it grating to see something that has absolutely nothing to do with ponies forcefully and repeatedly crammed together in a way that doesn’t even make any sense or have any point, like this one >>794834, especially on a site that is specifically about MLP. Not enough that I downvote those images or make negative comments on them (or do anything more than roll my eyes and move on), but I’m guessing that plenty of people who do have similar reasoning. To me, it’s like going to some football website and instead blathering everywhere about how awesome baseball is, and how football ought to use bases and hit the ball with a bat, then being shocked when people who are there just for football tell you to go somewhere else.
 
I find the whole Doctor Whooves fanon just as tiresome for the same reason, or maybe even more so due to how prevalent it is. And I even like Doctor Who, but the two shows aren’t related to each other in the slightest. At least many people make up some semblance of a reason for that, though, instead of just shoving a character in with zero context whatsoever.

Because we’re not a hive mind. The only thing linking anyone within this fandom is our fondness of MLP. We have nothing else in common. Ten bronies who happen to dislike Sonic is no different than 10 random people who happen to dislike Sonic.
 
And, if you’ll indulge me, where exactly is this “very large portion” of people?
 
Here you will find the single-most downvoted Sonic picture on this site. It was made with the express purpose of disgusting people, and it is not pretty.
 
At the time of this comment it had a total of 458 downvotes and 158 individual comments (that’s comments, not users who did comment; I lack the means to separate the two).
 
Now lets bop on over to site statistics. At the time of this comment, this site currently had 121,441 users (Fun fact: that’s roughly the population of Victorville, California)
 
That means 0.3% of the site downvoted, and 0.1% commented. 0.3% of a website is not a “very large portion”. What you’re talking about is the vocal minority. The vast majority of this site does just ignore the picture and move on, without bothering to so much as downvote or comment.
 
0.3% is neither “everybody”, “too many”, or even a small minority.

I don’t know why not. I wouldn’t single out any one single asshole like this, but if there’s a fairly large portion of people in a community that are acting like dicks, I think making an image macro in response to it is fine.

No, I understood what you said entirely. I was just pointing out that it’s not fair to single the bronies out for that behavior.

Also, yeah, there are well rated Sonic images, but there are far too many high quality ones that are downvoted or no other reason than being Sonic related. People are free to like or dislike whatever, as I said, but they’re clearly ignoring the actual quality because of their hate for the franchise and downvoting it for that. It’d be so easy for them to hide the tag, but they don’t and that annoys me too, honestly. It’s like downvoting every image with Blueblood in it just because people don’t like him an ignoring the quality of the image itself, that’s bullshit.

Don’t take it so literally. If I literally meant everyone it would also apply to pony haters and people who have never even seen or heard of MLP, since everyone means… you know, everyone. And I obviously didn’t mean it that way.
 
What it means is that I everyone in the fandom who acts this specific way seems to think they’re better than other fandoms. It doesn’t literally mean every single person. Yes, I guess I technically said it wrong, but I thought it was pretty obvious what I meant.
 
But then you continue to understand something that I didn’t make a mistake in phrasing by thinking I’m saying they have to like Sonic. Read. I’m not saying they have to enjoy the franchise, I just don’t think Bronies (who already like something that’s seen as outside our age group) should really be judging people for basically anything that they enjoy, unless it’s something really, really fucked up.
 
It’s not about saying mean things about a fictional character or a franchise, it’s about being assholes to the fans, but acting like people shouldn’t talk that way about the Brony fandom. It’s hypocritical and that annoys me. Do you understand now?

And we don’t have to like your show just because it’s similar to ours. How is it fair to tell us what we do and don’t have to like, and how we do and don’t have to act, just because we watch a TV show? So people here say mean things about Sonic. Who cares? Last I checked, people say mean things about this fanbase like everywhere else. Should we care? No.
 
And for fair and balance, most Sonic pictures that get downvoted are either low quality, intentionally meant to troll, or cringeworthy ships. There are plenty of good high quality Sonic related pictures here with high scores, and it tends to be the same (rather small) group of people who trashes on each and every one in the comments with the same slightly smaller group of people defending each one, with everyone else sitting back in silence. I could even give names, but I don’t want to single people out here.
 
And before you say that shipping Sonic with MLP always causes drama, yeah, shipping in general tends to be a pretty touchy subject. Take a look.

I know, but people would act like the images against Bronies are completely different than the ones against the Sonic fandom when they’re not. It is different to post it on an all Brony site, but come on, it’s still pretty hypocritical.

The first two were rated pretty high, dude. Also, I’m not going to read every single comment, but there seem to be pleanty of people in there in agreement. I’m obviously not saying that every Brony hates Sonic fans, it’s just an annoying thing I’ve noticed. This is targeted at the specific people who act like this, I’m not making a statement about how all Bronies act.
 
It being run by Bronies shouldn’t matter if we’re supposed to love and tolerate, which some people still act like is a big thing this fandom helps people do. It’s easy to love and tolerate yourself and those like you, but if you’re going to preach that, you can’t hate another fandom like that.

People still act like everyone should be accepting of them liking MLP (which I agree with), but won’t return the same respect for Sonic fans. That’s what this is based on.
