I wasn’t saying that one was ‘better’ than the other. (I thought one was newer than the other, but it was the other way around.) I just thought it was interesting to see the artist treat the same subject in two different ways.
 
You’ve given me an excuse, though, to share the comment I thought of too late for it not to be a triplepost: I like how everyone’s expressions are roughly the same, except for Twilight’s in the later (beach) picture. Because she’s ‘not this <squee> again.’

It’s just two different art styles. Artists often experiment with them, AND use many styles simultaneously.
