While I would facepalm so hard, my brain would shoot out the back of my skull if they actually canonized this, I wouldn’t go so far as to wish death and/or destruction on Hasbro or the studio.
@Deserter Yup. If this became canonised, or if RBD became lesbian, I would be one of the first to lead Westboro to their fucking doorstep. Because that would have meant Rainbow spent so much time avoiding a stereotype just to wholeheartedly embrace it. I would burn Hasbro down over this the way I want IDW to burn over Reflections. Because I have fucking principles goddammit and I won’t stand for that shit from the main canon.
@Itsthinking
There’s no shame in avoiding stereotypes though. Especially when avoiding this stereotype could potentially help encourage girls to be more than just “girly girls” in fear of being labelled as something they are not.
@Deserter
There has to be a word for this sort of stereotype avoidance. Like, you’re so afraid of fulfilling a stereotype that you walk on eggshells to make sure you don’t. It’s some sort of shame…
@Itsthinking
I dunno, I feel that it would make the article that Faust made berating this chick for thinking Dash was an “angry lesbian” just because she’s a tomboy (and has rainbow hair) completely fucking pointless.
It’s like “She’s not a lesbian just because she’s not girly” and then someone could point out that she is a lesbian and then the whole argument falls flat on it’s ass.
Ashleigh can fuck around on Twitter all she wants, but keep in mind that Hasbro needs to make money, guys. And they cannot take a side on such a gigantic political and social debate without losing sales.
A lot of sales.
So it’s best to just play the safe route and do what’s normal. i.e; straight, or no romance at all. Sorry, but that’s just business. Take it from a Business major.
We have all our fanfiction and fanart for slash shipping, anyway.
@Bolan
see this it way no one here agrees with you, you’re so closed minded and unwilling to except another’s opinion that you take any criticism as hostility, if you as intelligent as you say you are, you would know that a gay couple could work give a chance, instead you simply dismiss it ever working and simply say if it’s not the main characters it doesn’t count, when it dose, if you want walk away from this then just walk away, don’t comment about you been right and I been wrong, don’t make idle threats, don’t swear and curse, just walk, and walk out wiser then before, and if you think I’m rude then there’s no reason to follow my example
@James739
You’re calling me rude? Let’s recap:
-I say a particular gay couple didn’t involve main characters, sorry.
-You call me an idiot.
-I explain to you why it doesn’t, and shouldn’t involve main characters.
-You call me a idiot again.
-I give up because you would obviously rather call names than have an intelligent discussion.
-You call me a coward.
So actually have something to say or stop talking because otherwise, rudeness is all you deserve.
@Deserter
Right, except when it came to Star Wars, Lucas himself always considered the EU a separate universe as well as non-canon to his movies. This is a different case. Hasbro themselves approved the comics and stated that it is canon until the show ensures it isn’t. So basically, its canon until Hasbro decides to kill it off.
@Cross
Yeah, no. It’s like the Star Wars extended universe, it’s “canon” alright, it’s just not canon with the original works.
And by that, I mean it has it’s own universe.
@Deserter
Doesn’t actually happen very often; turns out it’s not against the rules to be a complete and total ██████ about it as long as you’re not personally insulting someone, and even then it has to get reported first.
