That, and the board is a generally unpleasant one.
Still, it seems to serve as a kind of Black Ops for the fandom. While I’d never go there, I’m glad they exist, and I can appreciate the work they do.
A prime example of N.I.M.B.Y.
Even if the game was legit, it’s a complete ripoff to even ask for funding when you are working off MLP material. Games like Fighting is Magic and Pony Kart never asked for money to fund their projects because they knew that doing so would get them into legal trouble with Hasbro who owns the rights to the show and characters. I’ve only heard about this game recently and even I can smell something rotten about it.
If you want to fund a game that is truly in spirit with the show, go for Mane6’s kickstarter for their new game that’ll be Fighting is Magic’s spiritual successor. Atleast it’ll be worth the money spent. Unlike this scam. Elaborate prank or not.
@Whatevs
People tend to dislike /mlp/ because they’re ultra negative about pretty much anything pony related that isn’t about the first two seasons, and tend to pat themselves on the back as the best fans. I know most probably aren’t like that, but enough of them have been to where it has given the board a bad name.
@Whatevs
People will feel how they want to feel. Not everyone here hates /mlp/, but if they want to, that’s their choice. It’s not like /mlp/’s doing it for the attention, fuck, they were bored and smelled a rat.
@TechnoTrot
That artist better hope they aren’t found out. Or better yet, they better hope that they weren’t looking to have a career in art. Because a scandal like this would ruin an artist for sure. Nobody would want to commission somebody who was a known scammer. Especially on a professional level where the people paying you are actual businesses.
Sam Hyde is part of this Million Dollar Extreme ‘comedy group’.
His newest scheme is ‘Project Mayhem’ which we’ve now figured out to be Dark Skyes, the dating sim linked in earlier comments.
Starts small, and suddenly is over halfway to goal in 5 days, which especially with no gameplay or alpha, catches attention, combined with the maker’s lack of public relations.
Digging is done, and the pieces are put together one by one. /mlp/ has now confirmed for certain 10 of the 12 people that are ‘working’ on Dark Skyes are all connected to MDE, mainly by Facebook posts, or earlier works for a couple of them.
The only two not yet confirmed are the marketing guy and the artist.
@Whatevs
A few days back a MLP-themed dating simulator project popped up on kickstarter. Its claims were fishy, and Anonymous was bored, so a few people started digging. After shaking the tree the last few days, it’s been found that nearly all the staff for the game are connected to a small-time “le epic pranking” youtube group, and the Kickstarter is a scam.
