It’s never specially been said, within the show, that EG is canon, or part of that universe. So yeah, at this point, it is a matter of opinion and will remain so unless specifically contradicted within the show. This guy appearing for a few seconds doesn’t change that. That could be argued till the end of time without going anywhere. Who cares though? It was a great episode otherwise, and this was just small addition by the visual department. I certainly don’t think they took it seriously, and I’m not going to either (or shall try my best not to). If people want to consider ‘Flash’ just another guard, that’s perfectly fine. Unless he’s directly talked about or referenced in the show as being part of the movie, it is a matter of opinion. As far as I’m concerned, the movie is a totally separate thing. A parallel universe, if you will.

There’s a difference between being a cameo and being an actual character.
 
Jesus, I didn’t even give a crap about him being there, but the moment I saw him I said “Well, here comes even more drama we don’t need.”

Jim Miller just tweeted that it was a tiny visual ‘nod’ to the movie, so it really doesn’t confirm or deny anything, and was, unless I’m much mistaken, not something meant to be taken seriously in any event. Certainly doesn’t confirm or deny anything. So yeah…who cares, I’m going to go watch Discord singing again.

But, it is a matter of perspective and preference for people if they want to consider it canon within the show’s universe or not. And about the toy sales…I’ve been hearing conflicting things about that. Some people say they didn’t sell well at all, so I really have no idea.

Unfortunately other personally believe it to be a direct attack against them for some reason and have now launched a campaign of argument against all they deem responsible,fortunately it will die down soon and then people can really enjoy this great episode.
