Likely after twilight went full stupid and made the really really dumb decision to lock away all magic, Spike couldn’t stand her anymore and went to live with the dragons, upon which point Ember just gave the title of Lord back to Spike since he actually earned it and handed it over to Ember in the first place.

I think it is so cool how Spike is Dragon Lord now. It reminded me of how he technically was Dragon Lord for a few seconds before passing the title to Ember. I don’t know how he got the title again here, but part of me likes to think he and Ember got together at some point and maybe that had something to do with it.

It would be best if it was a “name of legend” as said. There WAS a dragon named Spike at some point and he took the name/was named it.

Maybe the episode where Luster Dawn appeared isn’t canon to G5, remember the Twilogram (Yes, Spike’s girlfriend, Twilight Sparkle, whom fate is unknown in G5 right now) was not her final alicorn model?
