Looks like Jim learned a lesson from J. K. Hadley’s mistake. I was a little worried they were Korra-ing it with two characters that never showed any romantic inclinations.
I still don’t honestly see them being a couple even if they are both gay. They’re friendship was too competitive, I’d think that would get in the way a lot.
I really thing they could have shown them with ponies even if they’ve never been seen, to show as the show’s final message for friendships growing as they met others outside of the mane six.

The reason I say “I knew it.” is because I saw the episode when it was leaked and I had the idea of Hasbro leaving us to decide what is going on between them meaning we can say they’re either a couple or just friends and both sides will have their reasons. I stuck with that idea and I was right all along.
I’m gonna headcanon them as really close friends who people keep mistaking as a couple and neither of them have any idea why, and they bicker like an old married couple about the possible reasons.
I don’t really like the ship, so I’m glad it’s not necessarily canon, though if they wanted to just leave it up to interpretation I do think they could have gone a little easier on that shipping fuel.
