You almost sound like someone who’s internalized the fear-mongering and phobias of the right-wing haters, really. I feel sorry for you.

Your politics do not apply here in the slightest. We have a national socialist party (Centre-left) in power and the best legal/social situation for LGBTQ+ in the entire world, I work as an LGBTQ+ champion within the military as a transperson, so let me tell you if you want to be taken seriously don’t burn bridges and yell in people’s faces. If you want your country to improve and to have what we have it will take time, and serious activism in politics/social change.

Yelling and trying to cram a flag down someone’s throat is childish and most would disregard/shun such behaviour as it should be, pathetic. Better the argument for your cause by being more mature and focusing efforts on the causes of grief, can’t get married? what will waving a flag do, nothing. What will getting involved in political activity, writing letters to politicians and opening debate do? a hell of a lot more that is for sure, that is how you make a real difference.

You have people opposed to your beliefs in power, you have the ability to change that. How do i know? I’ve lived through that change, i was writing letters and setting up discussions to do such things. We are a minority supported by the majority through education and social adaptation.

Point is, if you want change do something politically tangible. Or be violent.. Problem with that is you’re outnumbered so it isn’t a fight you can win by force, food for thought.

I am only on About that LGBTQ+ is making such a mess that the General puplic losing the good faith and good will towards the LGBTQ+ Community. Even if you are upfront and blunt About it, you can not effort losing the support of the majority.

10% of Population is LGBT (highest rumored number)

100 People - 10 = 90 People
You win over 41 People you get the majority in a vote. 41 not effected + 10 that are effected by the laws and Society norms = 51.
But that leaves 49 People you did not convinced meaning your support Group is smaller than your Opposition.
Meaning there are more Voices against you than for you.

You Need 65% approval so you are equal with your enemies in puplic support. Realistically you Need even more so the Opponent Voices are drowned out by Society. Minorities are Fighting a up-hill battle.

Watch your fyay steps. At this Point I am just hoping the USA way does not Splash over here before my Uncle/aunt dies. I don´t want to see him/her see all they have worked for burn to the Ground.

I ain’t waiting til old people die off and then the rest of society becomes the new old people. Change the current paradigm or die trying. That’s the honorable and time-tested way of bringing about social change.

Black people won their rights and fought racism here by “getting uppity,” getting in the streets, waving flags, protesting, etc. Trans rights are no different. You almost sound like someone who’s internalized the fear-mongering and phobias of the right-wing haters, really. I feel sorry for you.

I wasn’t saying it wasn’t. And i also wasn’t saying inaction was the right way of it.

The whole point is, if you frothing at the mouth as an SJW you lose credibility.

What is normal here is not normal in the states, yet. Things take time, and by time that usually means until generations with those ideals actually die off, if you think you can change the mindset of a generation that held the beliefs that segregation was ok (and a few still think that way rather strongly vocally or not) You are mistaken. Here we have had multiple generations since any of that, yours is a far more recent history since the 60’s and thus a lot of those bigoted folk are still alive (and generally in power)

Therein lies the crux of the issue. If you want immediate, sweeping change it ends up a bit violent, Europe is not stranger to that i can assure you.
xRei

If you want your rights, be normal about it.

I don’t think you meant this is a bad way, but again it comes off as privileged. Your analogy about religion doesn’t really support your argument. It’s a bit of a straw man of every person who is being ‘normal’ about it. Whatever ‘normal’ means in the context of fighting for social rights.

There is no direct dichotomy between logic and feelings/emotions. You can be argumentative, loud and angry and also logical/correct all at the same time. Dismissing someone’s passion in this way is just a lazy attempt to gainsay. This image being portrayed of ‘SJWs’ as frothing at the mouth is often just a parody of the truth.

As to the issue… Back when the US still had Jim Crow Laws, social justice wasn’t won by people sitting around and chilling out and waiting for the government, and society at large, to throw black minorities a bone. It’d be wonderful if all positive and meaningful change could occur through calm and civil means. But sometimes it can’t. And there is a limit to how much patience and reservation we should expect from disenfranchised minority groups when there is an existential problem that needs addressing.

If someone telling another person off is all it takes for us to be so offended and incensed that we won’t even listen if there’s a valid reason for that anger, then we’ve apparently become a world full of snowflakes. Which is ironic, because it’d be the impassioned one who normally gets the label.

Nobody would take you seriously after that, insulting someone isn’t a very mature way to get your point across.

If you want your rights, be normal about it. If people think you are a raving lunatic you won’t be able to convince many people. Religious people’s arguments crumble against cold hard logic, the moment they crack and can’t come up with any viable stance other than yelling that a 2000 year old book (written and amended hundreds of years after the fact by different people) is the truth, then they look like the raving lunatic, only they tend to back it up with violence because they have no actual argument.

The states needs to badly improve it’s social and mental attitude towards each other, right now it’s an awful lot of mob mentality. It’s getting better, slowly, but stupid people are always going to be stupid people you can’t change that.

I feel sorry you had to lash out like that really, don’t be one of them.

Otoh, I think lgbt people would like to live without being told they’re unnatural, called pedophiles, becoming homeless, and abused and harassed for who and what they are. They’d just like to be treated as normal, everyday people but certain people don’t want to see them or acknowledge them.

Also, why shouldn’t artists put politics in their images if they feel strongly about the issue? That seems like a dumb idea to me.

Engaging in senseless arguments where no one’s opinions can/will be changed is more fun though.

Gotta give OP the drams they want. Here:

I agree in principal with the idea that trans people should be able to just relax, but this really does come off as a highly privileged point of view. It’s much easier to relax and ‘take it easy’ when the minority group you’re a part of is already treated with, at the very least, indifference, and most importantly, equality.

It isn’t as though minorities in America make a fuss because they just love complaining about things and have nothing better to do with their time. It’s because many of them still don’t have basic rights which recognize their situation. And in our magnificent two party system, there’s a high probability your next leader will be in a party which actively seeks to unravel social progress made by previous administrations.

America may be a world leader in certain respects, but social progress is not one. We’re still playing catch up to most other Western powers on many, many issues.

Seriously. This argument of ‘well everything looks good on my side of the fence, so everything must be OK everywhere’ mentality is so hilariously disingenuous and intellectually lethargic, it’s actually rather breathtaking.
