I agree, and go further. I offer the opinion that this is also true of most, if not all, of the ponies we see day in and day out (so to speak) on the show. Twilight Sparkle in particular most of the time has always seemed to me to behave much more like a precocious nine-year-old girl than the young adult she seems to be in the context of the show.

Actually, childlike is pretty spot-on, but it does tend to be confused with childish, which carries the connotations. Childlike enthusiasm is about the best (and most positive) attitude toward any hobby you could have.
