@TheOtakuX
Yeah, that’s for sure.
But I believe that Sunset would be a bit afraid of Princess Celestia’s reaction.
I mean if her former student returns, she would probably see her, too.
At least in the first movie it seemed like she still cares about her.
@Background Pony #FC9E
Ah, yeah, rechecking the scene she was about to use it. But that wasn’t just for a visit like I was talking about, that was to try to get Princess Twilight’s help.
I’m just saying if she ever did get homesick, she’d be free to visit if she ever wanted. I’m sure Princess Twilight wouldn’t object.
@Background Pony #BD47
Didn’t the Hasbro website state something that supports her being homesick though?
Though I admit it isn’t the most reliable source, since it also states that Lemon Zest is supposed to be something of a drill sergeant, and we know how inaccurate that statement really was.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
I recall, but it seems pretty heavily implied that she’s never used it before. Maybe she thought if it wasn’t an emergency, she’d get in trouble for returning?
So it looks like Hasbro had a change of mind in mid-production. Too bad, Sunset’s part of the song was heart-touching. Still, if she’s popular enough it’s only a matter of time before we’ll see her in the Main Series. She’s exactly what Mane 6 needs right now, some fresh air.
@Background Pony #22A0
She has a chance. She can go back through the portal any time she wants. This movie showed that it’s permanently open now. Hell, she could go to VISIT if she wanted. There’s literally nothing stopping her from going back. If she wanted to.
It makes sense this got cut. It’s better to not add complexity to the movie that can’t be accommodated for in the allotted time. There was enough going on in the movie as it was.
It would have been awesome to see this subplot and more fleshed out Shadowbolts if they had an extra 20 minutes to work with.
I’m just hoping that this plot isn’t totally abandoned and we see homesick Shimmer in the next thing that comes out of the Equestria Girls franchise.
It makes me sad that the DVD releases of the actual show don’t get deleted scenes like this. Not to mention it’d be awesome to see the whole show’s full animatics.
@TheOtakuX
I doubt Starswirl is that incompetent or callous. It’d be like “you’re someone elses problem now” and that’d be pretty terrible. He probably banished them there because he knew their magic wouldn’t work the way it normally does there.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
Starswirl probably didn’t know anything about the world he banished them to. And the art in Twilight’s book implied the gems were part of their body when they were in Equestria. Them becoming necklaces was likely just part of the transformation to human, like how it also automatically creates clothes for them.
@TheOtakuX
I suspect that the Dazzlings will be trying to replace them with, you guessed it, Human magic. They probably got the gems or at least had them modified to do what they do as a result of Human magic. Them getting the gems from a human spellcaster will be neat, who they could go to to have the gems repaired. I doubt Starswirl banished them to the human world knowing their powers would be in tact, so the gems being an external source of power found in the human world makes the most sense to me.
@TheOtakuX
Well I think she’d still want to go home one day. I mean, she did grow up there, spent most of her life there, and must have had people she cared about, Celestia too.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
I don’t know if the Dazzlings would be looking into magic still or not, since without their gems they have no way to steal it, and we don’t know if they can even use it at all anymore (they clearly can’t use it to enhance their singing without the gems).
@TheOtakuX
I figure the Dazzlings(or at least just Adagio) know a thing or two about it, and Adagio outright states that “Magic works differently here” at the start of Rainbow Rocks. Human world magic is probably just hidden in the far off and secluded reaches of the world, which is probably what Legend of Everfree is going to be about. I kinda of want them to revive Hydia from the original MLP movie as a representative of Human magic.
@Evil Emperor Proteus
Exactly, I was going to say the same thing but I was on my phone at the time. Or just continue to study how magic acts differently in that world. Going back to Equestria she’d be studying magic that lots of ponies are already familiar with. In the human world, there’s at most one other person studying it (Twilight).
