@Mugen Kagemaru
Well, not necessarily all of it. Depends on how creative you are with ignoring things. All of RR and a good chunk of EqG1 are certainly canon now. But me personally, I strive to ignore as much of FG as is realistically possible.
@Background Human
I’ll note Adagio is the only villain ever to no sell harmony powers. Literally every other villain has gone down like a punk once the Mane 6 start glowing and throwing rainbows at them, but Adagio not only fought back, she outright beat them.
@Amethyst_Crystal @LanceOmikron
I think it makes Rainbow Rocks that much more powerful in hindsight. When you compare what they did at Canterlot High to what they did here, you start to appreciate just how hard Equestrian magic is nerfed in Humanland.
@SuperSonic15
Though they did put up a decent fight before that, only having the tables turned on them after Sunset joined in. So we did get a good hint as to their power. But seeing them in their actual forms here was an unexpected and most welcome treat. ^_^
@Amethyst_Crystal
Yeah, we only saw their original forms when they were conjured to fight the Rainbooms, and then were easily disintegrated when that spectral Alicorn made by the Rainbooms’ magic delivered the finishing blow.
@Ryodraco
The “turned to shadows” thing makes no difference, he was made of living shadow regardless. And there was no indication that he had returned to flesh and blood. As far as we know, he just coalesced into a form resembling his original one.
@LanceOmikron
But in the episode proper wasn’t he said to have been “turned to shadow” by Celestia and Luna rather than being always made of shadow? And when he was shattered he had first returned to a flesh and blood form. Course if we only go off the scant information given in the animated series then it is hard to draw firm conclusions about him.
@Background Pony #8E4D
I was one of those people. It didn’t make any sense for Sombra to immediately be assumed dead, since he was only blown to pieces with his horn being clearly intact. He was made of living shadow (so he probably could have pulled himself back together), and his horn was capable of regeneration.
Then his Fiendship is Magic issue came out, and I felt vindicated. Then the ending of the Crystal Siege arc happened, and… I started to think that maybe he should have just stayed dead.
@Background Pony #B4A9
In his defense in might as been as reference. However he’s right that they never said where they sent them to. That piece of lore came from equestria and even if it was established in RR it doesn’t prove that the other world exist as they said nothing of it in the segment.
@Background Pony #7DDB
If it helps, the flashback might just be a summary of what took place, like if it was actually a long, drawn-out battle, but they couldn’t very well squeeze that into the episode and it actually took Starswirl a LOT longer to make that portal, the other 5 distracting/fending off the sirens until they could be herded to the right spot at the right time. Maybe.
That, or it’s a heavy case of History Is Written By The Winners and those providing the flashback maybe weren’t completely honest about just how easy it was. Happens all the time, I think, because you can find people today that earnestly believe CHS won the Friendship Games even when the whole competition was a bust and it was declared ‘we’re all winners!’
