Ooh, it just dawned on me, Giorno is frequently referred to as the least favourite JoJo among fans outside of Japan, and subsequently, not everypony is entirely fond of Jade Experience because his creation was too sudden and the victory he achieved against Queen Crimson was viewed by some as anti-climactic. Making the comparisons all the more apt. XD

You could probably bring one to that bayou village in Somepony To Watch Over Me. The idea appears to be when a pony gives one love willingly, not forcibly, one is genuinely satisfied, not eternally hungry, and obviously, this effect is hastened in an area with a shitton of ponies. It is presumed one becomes a “Changeling Rex” if the love one expels had contained energy “given” to one by the Crystal Heart, not taken.
 
Note it is presumed that neither the Heart nor the Elements nor the Tree are 100% inanimate. They seem to respond to the wants and needs of those in their vicinity, much like Dragon Balls and Chaos Emeralds.

If the ponies are truly friends with them and vice versa, instead of it being a one-way street (as changelings seem to have always done underneath Chrysalis), yes.

The demonstration of him being without hunger. Now, he didn’t have any proof of it, but sometimes you don’t need to be very convincing if the other party wants what you’re claiming to be true bad enough. They saw a possible way for them to escape their hunger, and went for it even if there was no proof other than his word.
 
Yes, that’s what I said. They unleashed it by sharing it.
 
No? Thorax was consensually drinking in the massive amounts of love around Cadance, Flurry Heart, the Crystalling, and the Crystal Empire for an extended period of time. He didn’t get that way just from merely having an attachment to someone, let alone an involuntary one like nearly all or all of the other Changelings would have.

What demonstration? They had no proof of anything that Thorax or Starlight said was true. If anythings them believing Starlight and Thorax instantly made them worse in retrospect.
 
The only proof they had was that apparently Thorax turn into something prettier looking.
 
Also they didn’t unleash their stored love. They shared it.
 
The concept of of Thorax becoming that big is ridiculous. There is no way that all you have to do is make a bond and then share love to become what Thorax is. That is absolutely broken and means that any changelings that had attachments to anybody then decided to share love would look just like Thorax.

He did end up going back, though. Without him demonstrating (and thus figuring out) that there was a way for Changelings to not be eternally hungry, I doubt many, if any at all, would have joined Thorax in unleashing their stored love, and the throne wouldn’t have been broken.
 
Plus, it gave an excuse for why Thorax is the biggest of the transformed Changelings.

Huh. That’s a very good point. I don’t think those other changelings really learned much of anything from the experience.
 
I still wonder how many writers thought that this was a good way to change the changelings, and how long they spent thinking about it.
 
Also if changelings had to gather love all over Equestria before and share it with their queen, how come that didn’t transform them? How is this very different?

No I’m talking about the sharing love concept. Thorax makes since since like you said he formed a bond.
 
This is presumably what allowed him to share love.
 
If that’s the case you’d think the rest of the changelings would go through a similar development……but they don’t.
 
They transformed without experiencing anything Thorax has so what was the point of introducing Thorax’s conflict in the first place?

Well, pointless now. Presumably if he never met spike he wouldn’t be able to figure out that he could do this.
 
I think loving/liking Spike a lot got him those sparkle wings and took away his endless hunger.

I just now realized that the way they transformed just made Thorax’s conflict in the times are a changeling pointless.

Okay. Those that manage to survive would be pretty friendly. For the changeling kingdom, I assumed it would just disintegrate them all.
 
On second thought, maybe its meant to only be used on evil or corrupted ponies. It got used as a “solve this problem” plot device.

I remember the early seasons of MLP, and the first Equestria Girls where blasting someone with a rainbow of friendship would burn away all of their evil and turn them into better people.
 
If only there was some way to hit all of Ponyville, Griffonstone, Dragon lands etc with wide angle friendship beams, everyone left would be super friendly :D
