Im thinking this is a classic case of headcanon believed in too hard. Trixie was never near Twi’s level magic knowledge wise.

She summoned a small storm cloud, levitated a rope, pulled things from her hat, messed up Rarity’s hair, and made a light show in the sky. Since then we’ve seen non-prodigy/Main Character unicorns casually doing such feats. In the same episode, Twilight manifested a door in open view, levitated a giant bear and a water tower, milked several cows out of her view, and composed a lullaby using only broken plants and the wind.
 
Trixie’s specialty is STAGE magic. She’s not a wizard, she’s a magician. Always has been. Her not being a wizard is part of what makes her so great as a character. She’s in a world with crazy dangerous magical beings and she plays up her minor feats as amazing. She places herself as a rival to Twilight even after Twi gets wings, a crown, and a castle. She talks sh** to Discord, who is well in his right to look down on her abilities, which is the same way he treats everyone else anyway. She’s a hilarious egotist, who only admits mistakes to her only friend.
 
I can write all I want and brag about my writing, but it doesn’t make me a good writer.

Trixie was always a big-mouthed fronter. Her very first episode established this. That was the whole point of it. Her abilities weren’t above simple tricks, her name is Trixie even. She didn’t have any major magical ability. She didn’t “specialize” in magic, she specialized in illusions because she lacked ability. So she was an illusionist, with her tricks enhanced by the abilities she had.
 
And when she turned out to be a jerk, the rest of the mane 6 wanted Twilight to show her what real ability was.
 
If you think Trixie was ever anything more than that, you didn’t watch Boast Busters and/or got too deep into fanfiction.

Trixie was presented as a unicorn that specializes in magic, does it for a living, brags about it. She could hold up a show with her own magic. I don’t buy this fake shit they made her into.

Because they do “real magic” being a wizard and a (basically) god, while Trixie is just a normal unicorn who’s good at making a show.
 
Starlight may have done the teleporting for her, but Trixie was still willing to shoot herself INTO a monster’s mouth. She’s still the star.
 
Personnally, I really liked the ending and basically everything Trixie did in the episode. She’s got the guts to argue with an entity that has made multiple attempts to conquer the world without any means of actually combating him. The ending is just the logical outcome.

At least she has that. The ending did no justice for her at all, she gets called a fake, again, and flies off on a pig. Wonderful ending for someone who put their life on the line to save everyone… Fuck.

Are you watching the same episodes I am? Trixie started off as a boaster, she didn’t actually do all that impressive magic in her first episode. Go watch it again if you don’t believe me.

Shes always been more of a stage pony than an actual wizard.
 
In the newest episode she saves equestria, and you’re complaining that Trixie is ruined? Hahah.

The way I see it, a wizard is someone who learned to use magic. The new writers think Trixie can only do fake shit like card tricks and other illusions. They made her into a real-life stage magician, which is the lamest fucking thing ever in a world like equestria.

To be fair, not just any unicorn can make wizard. You need both great knowledge and great power. If you only have one of those, close, but no wizard.

She was a fake wizard from the start.
