…Actually, that’s pretty much how I feel about season 6 as well. Three really good episodes (“On Your Marks”, “Gauntlet of Fire”, “The Saddle Row Review”), one misfire (“No Second Prances”), and a bunch of okay-to-good episodes. I’m still enjoying the show, but it’s a slight comedown from season 5.
 
I also like how both Murrison and Pepe Le Meme Frog ignore how the critic/reporter was presented neutrally in “The Saddle Row Review”, even though he had some snarky observations in his overall-positive review. I guess that doesn’t qualify as “harsh but reasonable”.

Yes,but that’s not what i argued.My opinion is that Season 4 and 5 episode were more lively than the one in Season 6 (which have good episode like for example The Saddle Row Review mind you,but those are kinda less nowadaysfrequent IMHO,the norm seem to be pedestrian episode like Applejack Day Off)

Hmm touché,you got a point though one can argue that those are Hasbro mandates so that would have happened regardless of Josh Haber replacing McCarthy when she have to write the movie.I think however that the slice of life episode lately are kinda pedestrians.Once again,not a big deal but i preferred Season 4 and 5 compare to this one

I kind of understand your point about most of the episodes being mostly average to a bit above average this season; I don’t 100% agree but I get it. However I think a lot of that come from the unfortunate fact that you are 6 seasons into a show that is rated TV-Y; add to that fact that it is only 22 minutes an episode, there is only so much they can do with that. I think a lot of it is the constraints of what the show is coming into light at this point and a lot of people not being willing to accept that.
 
I feel like some fans expect this show to do things that it quite frankly just can’t do. Really to me it’s rather shocking that they have kept the quality of the show up as much as they have.

Honestly ,i wont say “declined” but the episodes kinda feel on autopilot for me,which is not bad when you compare it to how Spongebob declined.I kinda blame Josh Haber as a showrunner for that,he always missed that “it” factor and never gave me the impressions he was willing to take risk (on one hand you cant blame him for that if he dont want to be marked as the “HE RUINED EVERYTHING 5EVER” guy).Now yes,there was some good episode and only 2 questionnable IMO this season butthe majority was kinda pedestrian/by the books.It’s my biggest complaint about this season,it’s not outrageously good or bad,it’s just in the middle.But i’ll take this kind of mildness over awful any day and the episodes are still fortunately not a chore to watch.Season 6 is nice,i just hope they could do better.In fact,that’s my rating for this season :You can do better,hang in there
