No, it only took 1 episode to reform discord, and his circumstances were completely different. Unlike starlight, discord was a card carrying villain, and his reformation came out of nowhere, while starlight’s reformation at least had a bit of transition, even if it could have been executed better.

Yeah, while there were complaints about Sunset’s abrupt heel/face turn and lack of characterization, they were mostly drowned out by complaints over Flash Sentry, plot holes, Brad, dog!Spike, Dreamy Cutebottom, the music, and the Flashlight pairing.

There actually was a bit of a kerfuffle over sunsets redemption but nowhere near the extent that glimmer got. I think this is because the movie ended only with the promise that she wouldn’t cause any more trouble and that she would be taken care or rather then a whole song and dance number that tries desperatly to get us to like her to right after she almost ended the world.
 
Also, none of us thought we’d ever see sunset again after the movie so there was no risk of her ruining the show or stealing the spotlight so there wasn’t much to worry about at the time.

Opinions are not right or wrong dude. Yes there are popular and unpopular opinions, but neither side is right or wrong. There’s a saying that goes, one man’s trash is another ones treasure.
I’m not going any further with this, all you need to do is understand that I like Glimmer and I don’t find her to be a bad character, then you can feel free to disagree with me, and go on disliking her. That’s it.
 
But that’s my point. You can like and enjoy her all you want, but she’s still a horribly written character. That’s indisputable.

For example  
-You like Sunset but hate starlight meanwhile I like Starlight but hate Sunset. Neither of us are wrong, we just have different tastes and interests in characters.
 
Understand what I’m saying? I have the opinion that I think starlight is a great character, nobody has to agree with me, but at the same time, I’m not wrong.
 
I’m not going any further with this, all you need to do is understand that I like Glimmer and I don’t find her to be a bad character, then you can feel free to disagree with me, and go on disliking her. That’s it.
 
I’m done going over this.

No, I can accept the fact people have shit taste. You can have a wrong opinion. She is a horribly written character. You can enjoy her, but from a writing standpoint, her character is garbage. Accept THAT and move on.
Dude are you serious? Don’t you think that was a little immature to say? There’s no such thing as a wrong opinion or bad taste in characters. The only thing I got from you is that you don’t agree with me. That’s perfectly fine to not agree with me, but you need to accept that people have different views/opinions. That doesn’t make their opinions right or wrong, nor does it = bad taste.
Seriously, look at what you’re saying. You don’t like Glimmer, I’m fine with that, I really am. But you need to accept the fact that people like me, actually like Starlight and they don’t think she’s garbage at all or a bad character. Doesn’t mean I’m wrong, nor does it mean I have a bad taste in characters. Just face facts that I like a character that you don’t and move on.
 
Wrong opinions do exist. If I said “The Room” by Tommy Wiseau was a good movie, then I am wrong. I ENJOY watching it, but it is not a good movie. Same with Starlight Glimmer. You can enjoy her, but her writing is awful. Simple.

She had a personality shift because she had based her personality and life’s goals on a single concept. If she no longer believes in said concept, then her entire personality makeup comes crumbling down, and she has to rebuild it.

Is it weird that, while I’m not exactly happy with how Starlight Glimmer was handled in “The Cutie Remark”, right now all I’m concerned with is how they handle her character going forward, and I thought Josh Haber did a pretty good job with her in “The Crystalling”?

There are people who like Flash Sentry. At this point it doesn’t suprise me that Sunset Shimmer or Starlight Glimmer would be considered as interesting or compelling characters. But they are bland and forgettable and I can’t even point out any distinguished trait in any of them. DHX either need to develop Starlight into something more than clueless follower of Twilight with abandoning issues or just dispose of her like they did with Cheerilee.

Well, one mindraped them and caused all sorts of trouble, and the other threw them in the brainwashing room and stole their cutie marks (and everything that goes with them) while forcing them to stay at her creepy cult of a village…
 
Frankly, I’m surprised that they trust either of them at all, or I would be if this show wasn’t subtitled “Friendship is Magic”. Either way, reformations should probably not happen in montages, even if they are set to catchy tunes; what happened with Discord seems much more natural, because there were many instances of distrust before we got to where we are now, while Glimmer got to the same point (if not much farther, given how she’s now Twilight’s protege) in a montage, while also having a personalty shift that basically turned her into a different character. Overall, Discord’s was much better handled; Glimmers’ seems very rushed and forced, especially due to the personality flip.

You claim to be fine with people not liking starlight yet when an image critical of her like this shows up you call everyone on it sad and bemoan the state of the fandom because your favourite character on a show you rarely watch isn’t as popular as you think she should be.
 
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people liking starlight and I don’t believe in attacking peoples character for holding a differant opinion. Everyone has the right to an opinion but not all opinions are equal and none are free of scrutiny.
 
To be honest, while I like making fun of glimmer I dont really hate her as much as I did a few months ago and can even understand why some would prefer her over sunset, though I’d take trixie over either of them.
 
Oh, and if you think glimmer gets a lot of shitty images like this, try being a flash sentry fan sometime.

I’ve gone over my thoughts extensively before, but a short and sweet explanation would be: Some kind of punishment, for one thing, a better backstory (Show what happened to her after Sunburst left, maybe show her parents didn’t support her or anything), make her more likable and less guilt-tripping in her episodes, have her actually try to right her mistakes. Have her go out of her way to try to fix what she did wrong, not whine about going to see an old friend. She’s just unlikable all around and is severely underdeveloped. I can state this now, because now we’ve had THREE 2-part season finales and openings starring her, the same amount of screentime as Sunset Shimmer, and yet she’s still an underdeveloped annoying little bitch.
