Yeah, unlike Deathclaws which are mutated from something that would be mostly harmless to a person, cazadores are mutated versions of something that was rather terrifying to begin with (the tarantula hawk).

It’s not that she treats animals as equals (she does, but that’s not it), so much as it is that she’s more willing to go out of her way for animals than the others are.

I think it’s more the way she thinks of all animals as equals, which is kind I guess?

Yes, Fluttershy helped Twilight in the pilot, because she can fly and Twilight was falling to her death, and yes, she watched the Crusaders, because Rarity couldn’t and the alternative was a cancelled sleepover. She wasn’t eager, she was just being helpful. As for the luggage thing, well someone had to do it.

I’m not arguing that Fluttershy is a completely selfish character, I’m arguing that she’s no more prone to random acts of kindness or good than anyone else. Twilight Sparkle has offered to go out of her way to help others on many occasions. So has Pinkie Pie. Applejack had an entire episode dedicated to overextending herself. Barring certain conditions such as the involvement of animals or Discord, the truth is that if Fluttershy is willing to do it, the others would likely be just as willing themselves.

That’s not entirely true. Remember how readily she and Rainbow came to Twilight’s aid in the series pilot, and how eager she was to take over chaperoning the CMC from Rarity in “Stare Master”? And let’s not forget how she helped Miss Peachbottom/Chickadee with her luggage in “Games Ponies Play”. I agree that Fluttershy’s a bit overrated, but she should be given credit for these random acts of kindness, as should anyone who performs random acts of kindness.

Once again, I don’t think keeping the bats around Sweet Apple Acres was the best option, but neither was magically altering their instincts.

That’s not the point. The point is that Fluttershy was being inconsiderate of Applejack’s feelings.

And by the way, I’m not demonizing Rainbow: she really does act insensitive, even toward her closest friends. Remember in “Call of the Cutie”, when she mocked Applejack behind her back, just for being the last in her class to earn her cutie mark?

There’s a massive difference between mean-spirited cruelty and good-natured ribbing. Seeing as Applejack wasn’t emotionally distraught by the claim, we can assume she wasn’t too bothered by it.

I don’t need someone else to analyze a character for me, I got eyes and ears of my own, and I watch the show. People like to paint everything Fluttershy does in a better picture than it really is. She doesn’t really have any moral superiority over the others, is the least charismatic of the bunch, and almost every episode she has has her trying to get over her crippling social anxieties. In contrast with how she treats animals, Fluttershy is the least likely to go out of her way to help other ponies. This is not to say she wouldn’t do it, simply that the others would do it more readily.

She’s her friend dude making goofy faces about your friends is pretty common. You should see my impersonation of my jersey friend he’d be pissed if he saw it. (if you see this bud I’m sorry it’s just really funny)

Cut RD some slack being arrogant is part of her character and there’s nothing wrong with it she’s gotten a lot better about it just like fluttershy is getting better with her shyness.

Well, AJ said herself that she was the last in her class. I just don’t like the way RD struck that goofy pose: she seemed to be implying that AJ was slow.

She didn’t say anything about her being last there hell she could have been second.

All she said was she was FIRST to get hers that goes for all the main six not just AJ so she thinks she knows how to get AB a cutie mark that’s not mocking that’s thinking you think you know how to get a cutie mark faster for being first.

I’m sensing a hint of biased here.

Also, if I can’t change your views on Fluttershy, maybe YouTube’s Dr. Wolf can: he really goes in depth not just with character analyses, but with the episodes, the way things work in Equestria, and much more.

Trying to get Fluttershy to do the joust not insensitive. She was there to help the Crystal Ponies, and was given a job to that extent. And how do we know Rainbow could have picked a more athletic opponent? Do you think she would have picked Fluttershy if she had the option? Right now you’re just basically demonizing Rainbow Dash because Fluttershy had a job to do. We don’t even know it was Dash’s decision. Pinkie also isn’t insensitive, she’s just clueless. Also, Fluttershy is as fragile as a porcelain doll, so you can’t call someone insensitive for accidentally making her cry.

Yes, Fluttershy only asked Applejack to let them have part of the orchard - an orchard that isn’t hers, or theirs. She didn’t care about Applejack’s feelings or concerns on the subject, she was more concerned about the bats being happy. The only time her opinion would shift is when the bats actually started becoming a problem, and even then she’d be reluctant to change her view until she simply couldn’t deny the problem anymore.

Well, Rainbow’s been insensitive by forcing and guilt-tripping her into a jousting match. Yes, I know the Crystal Empire’s fate hung in the balance, and the Mane 6 had to keep the crystal ponies entertained, but Rainbow could have picked a more athletic opponent. Also, there was that bit with Pinkie’s rattling on in “Filli Vanilli”.

And about the vampire fruit bats: she said they should only have PART of the orchard. Nevertheless, I think Applejack was right in saying they were literally eating up too much of the Apple family’s resources. It would have been much better if they had given Fluttershy the time to learn the bats’ language, and then convince them to relocate.
Background Pony #8649
@EndlessWire94
Yes, she did that once. Because she was asked to. She was also very unsure of herself at first and only seemed to like it when Discord started trying to win her over to convince her to not use her element against him. Discord’s reformation was technically a result of a backfired plan of his.

@EndlessWire94
You’re giving Fluttershy too much credit for too little. Since when were the others less sensitive or less kind than she was? She’s certainly more fragile, but the others aren’t insensitive. And the only time that I can think of that Fluttershy disagreed with her friends on anything was the incident involving vampire fruit bats, and she was basically asking Applejack to let the bats destroy her livelihood.

“Turn the other cheek” was actually an instruction for non-violent protest. In 1st Century Judea, it was social custom that one who had power (slavemaster, upper class, Roman soldier) would backhand an underling or commoner across the face with their right hand as a show of public rebuke and reinforcement of status, because to do so was a clear signal to anyone watching that you were, in modern parlance, their bitch, and they could disrespect you at whim. Turning the left cheek to them meant that they either had to stop hitting you or essentially cause a riot; the left hand was strongly and universally considered Unclean, so if they struck you with it in public it meant all social hierarchy bets were off and you could kick their ass with much less fear of consequence, and if they hit you with a closed right fist it was a humiliating (for them) public acknowledgment that they considered you a social equal. Yeshua ben Yosef was a clever revolutionary.
