Too bad that natral immunity doesn’t translate to Fallout Equestria universe. (Maybe it helps they are fighting with food instead of bullets, but still..)

Ponies can survive pianos falling on them from dozens of feet in the air, plowing into the ground at speeds far greater than terminal velocity, and getting smashed through walls all the time.

They’re sturdy bastards.

I know Twilight would survive being that close what with being an alicorn and all but how is Fluttershy not either turning into a ghoul or dying horribly of radiation sickness yet?

I guess that’s true.

Also I meant Herbert not Hershal.

The show Fluttershy doesn’t deserve that, or anything bad really.

But the Fluttershy in FoE… She caused so much suffering and death… Even when she only tested the healing version of the megaspell she caused a battle to be waged twice. Her naivete caused the end of the world, despite all the warnings she got from her friends. When I see the fate of Twilight and Rarity (to be fair, those are my favorites so I may be unfair here), I don’t think she had it that bad. Also she gets to live, unlike the others.

I disagree on that. Having a structured plot does not make a good story, and certainly doesn’t mean it has superior style. The first chapters of FoE were very reminiscent of the usual experience of a first playthrough of Fallout 3, with the first hours being spent wandering around without a clear goal, meeting interesting characters and learning about the world little by little. The main quest takes shape as you go into the world, learn of the different factions, and finally learn of your true destiny.

In Pink Eyes the character is more endearing than interesting, there is little tension since she’s practically immortal (plus she doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand what’s happening around her) and her quest is revealed in the most contrived of manners. Maybe the story gets better later on, I stopped a few chapters after she defeats the killer robot hosting a murder party, but frankly I got bored of Puppy Smiles being so cheery and oblivious.

She’s my least favorite as well but I wouldn’t say she deserved it hell she was like that for hundreds of years.

|| I like how her turning into a tree was a reference to hershel and bob in fallout 3||

Oh… OOOOOH. Now I remember. With the fire and stuff yeah. Thanks!
She’s not very high on my “best main 6” podium, so she was the one whose fate I cared the least while I was reading FoE. And some would say that she almost deserved that fate, since she’s pretty much responsible for the end of the world.

Pink eyes is the only spin-off story I liked but I personally still liked the original more I had to know what was going to happen in the next chapter every time, Pink Eyes though good didn’t hook me like the original did IMO, but if you liked pink eyes more that’s understandable it was lighter in tone so that could have something to do with it.
Iago

@Pagan
I started reading some spin-offs (mainly Pink-Eyes and PH), but never could go very far into them; just a few chapters really. The original author has a very distinct style, and without it I can’t get into other Fallout Equestria fics. I normally don’t enjoy dark/gore fanfics, and I was surprised by FoE.

Pink Eyes is actually stylistically superior to the original FoE because it clearly has a coherent plot and direction right from the start. The original FoE spent multiple chapters meandering all over the place because the author didn’t know what she wanted besides Fallout in MLP’s world, and the story only really found its feet around quarter of the way in. Pink Eyes knew the story it wanted to tell straight from the beginning.

|| Fluttershy got turned into a tree by the killing joke and was forced to watch others die in front of her until the crew finds her and at the end of the story gives her the cure and turns her back into a pony but she suffers from PTSD.||

Yeah, Rarity had one of the most painful and gruesome deaths, but Twilight really was the most horrifying. The thing that gets me is not knowing if she is still alive inside the alicorn or not.

Now that I think about it, I’m not sure I remember how all the main 6 fared… Let’s see: Applejack lived in a stable, Rarity got fused to a window by pink mist, Twilight was merged into an abomination (we don’t know if her consciousness is gone or not), Dash was either killed by Gilda or managed to escape and was reunited with Scoots (don’t really like the idea of her becoming a ghoul), Pinkie… rotted away while holding on to her friend’s dolls (?) and Fluttershy… I don’t even remember what happens to Flutters. She dies in the Everfree Forest?

@armadiloeater
Rarity’s death was also pretty f’d up but yeah Twi’s was pretty horrific.

I don’t consider spin-offs of the original to be canon especially when they try to change the ending to the original.

I never finished PH I got to where they first meet Rampage and then I gave up on it I just couldn’t get into it.

@Spiritus Arcane
It’s not a cannon continuation, is it? Cause I like the way the original story handled Dash’s fate. Does it also talk about what becomes of corrupted alicorn Twilight in PH? Her fate really was the one that bothered me the most.

The wildlife in the Zone do die from the radiation (usually indirectly like having mutated worse nutrient uptake), it’s just considerably less than they suffer from human presence.

That’s what I meant AJ lived after the bombs fell but not in the wasteland hundreds of years later only Fluttershy gets that far and not even by becoming a ghoul.

Actually, AJ did too, inside Stable 2. Fluttershy only survived to the time of the story because of the nature of how she survived the war.

She helped in there development and testing and THEN gave them to the zebras out of shear stupidity.

Spoiler (though honestly if you haven’t read the story yet you most likely never will)

Ironic she’s the only one of the main 6 to survive after the war.

No, she made them first. The first ones were mega HEALING spells, of course…that she field tested on a battle field, resulting in both sides getting up and going right back to killing each other again…

…Yeah, Flutters was not a smart pony in those fics.

Fitting since in Fo:E she developed the mega-spells.
