Yeah, it would've far far better than just shoving in some parents we never heard of and were never mentioned.

And while I don't think they need to go too crazy with it, they could've possibly worked in some story where her parents show up after RD's parents adopt her or something like that.

I mean, they had an episode about that Sludge or whatever dragon who lied about being Spike's dad before. So why couldn't they have tackled this sort of thing again but maybe go further with it?

I copy and pasted this from another comment I made on a similar pic. A little bit of a headcanon of sorts.

"I personally liked the idea of Snap and Mane actually being happy expecting parents who would’ve loved and cared for Scootaloo, but maybe one of them sadly died shortly after her birth and the remaining one just wasn’t in the right frame of mind to take care of her, so they left her at the Ponyville Orphanage, knowing it was better for her at the time.

They wouldn’t have had to go super in depth about it, but they could’ve had, let’s say it was Snap, openly acknowledge that he made a mistake but still cares about her, but wasn’t about to try to force some sort of forced relationship out of thin air onto Scootaloo, but just lets her know that if nothing else, he’d be there for her if she really needed him."

But again, I do think that the writers could’ve handled such a storyline with enough maturity to make it work really well, without resorting to silly overused tropes and such.
