I can imagine her having a thick male voice since Hasbro (or whoever decided to decided a voice actress for her) thought she was a male character

I can’t help but think she’s a villain. Why? Well, she’s a happy go lucky, nice mare in our universe.
 
Given the context of the other verse, I’d be inclined to think that she’s a cold, calculating villain, possibly one of Celestia’s go to henchponies.
